Nvm I backed up then uninstalled all is well.
 
Figured I would let people know that superone click will root your Ascend. I haven't played with it to much so I don't know much lol
 
Im stuck at step 8. It goes through its options on a blue screen then it turns black, and doesnt reboot. Am I doing something wrong?
 
I am sitting here, after rooting my phone, and then trying to update it to FROYO.....when I followed all instructions given to me, and now my phone won't go past the Cricket Wireless screen.....I have it on the....

Android system recovery <2e>
Android system recovery utility

reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory recet
wipe cache partition

Now I can't get to any other thing on my phone. I can't even download the recovery zip file to my sd card due to not having an adapter. Is there another way to get my phone turned on, so that I can at least put the recovery file on it? Please help. I am desperate. I really need my phone. Thank you.....

As for the warranty...you can always unroot your phone but you do take a risk that if something goes wrong and you can't get it fixed back that your carrier will not replace it.

Unless you are willing to pay for the Pro version of Titanium Backup so that you can freeze the apps you don't want instead of uninstalling them I would recommend that you wait until the Froyo comes out and see if you still want to root....or you might want to rethink rooting at all.

It can be done successfully but again...unless you follow the instructions to a T you can have probs with your phone.

Followed instructions to root phone, but it will not root.

Enabled USB debugging, downloaded z4root and saved it to phone, opened z4root and selected permanent root. Phone did not turn off and back on. Opened up z4root again and was not given the option to reroot, so I know it did not root. Tried removing and downloading again, but still did not work. Downloaded and used Dolphin Mini Browser and it still did not work.

I have searched threads for help, but didn't find anything.

Am I missing something? Any suggestions?

you on 2.1 or 2.2? if u are on the 2.2 update u need to use gingerbreak.
 
HI! i know this is kinda late, but i saw that there were four pages, and i was kinda too lazy to read seeing as how it might not affect me, XD anyways, is there a way to root the phone after the 2.2 update??? thanks
 
I have just updated my Huawei Ascend with Android 2.2 for Metro PCS via WiFi. Is there any possible way that it can be rooted or I can remove the pre-installed Metro PCS apps? I have tried to root the same way I did when I had 2.1 by using [z4root] but it did not work. Please help! :confused:
