Root The "Fix everything by turning your phone into an Evo 3d" thread

Flashing the VM ROM isn't the problem. It's the fact that I can't boot it with the 1.04 Hboot.
You can flash back to the 1.57 hboot and flash stock, or flash something like Harmonia (which is based on stock and will activate) and works on any hboot.

I've been changing prl"s since my blackberry days and can honestly say that it's the smallest benefits for the most amount of time.
It made a huge difference for me on one phone, a big help on a second, a minor improvement on another, and very little on still another, all in the same location.

But I agree for the most part. I have given lots of thought to removing it from this thread for the above reason as well as the complications. People are putting more emphasis on it than need be.

Are you s-off?
Of course. I wouldn't have CM9 if I didn't :p

This sounds a lot easier and simpler. I may just flash Harmonia since you say I can activate it with that ROM. Perhaps I can find a way to get the activation part from that ROM and stick it in CM9 (or CM10 when I upgrade to it). We shall see.

Absolutely not.
It has been tried many times, the activation is wrapped up in the framework and not incorporated into CM at all.

If all you need is a temp rom to activate, you have two easy options...
Make a nandroid (recovery) backup, wipe everything and install Harmonia.
or
Install the free version of Boot manager, install Harmonia as a second rom. Boot into it, activate, boot back into CM, delete the Harmonia install, and uninstall Boot manager.

This is suppose to fix Radio shortage right? I did everything for this when i first got my phone. By that i mean, Root, s-off and everything else on this thread. even the optional stuff. Right now, i am not getting text or call. Help!!!! the only thing i have done to the phone is update the ROM via GOOmanager or whatever it is. I am running Harmonia still. besides regular usuage, i havent done anything else to the phone. I did all of this back in the beginning of november. Help!

Well if it worked back then, it should work now and would have nothing to do with this thread.

Check your account online and see if nothing happened, try to re-activate, after that, wait, because odds are it is a local outtage.

I had the same issue this morning.
Did my root and s-off about a month ago and it has worked great also untill the last few days and now my signals have been dropping in and out like before rooting and s-off.

What can i check to see if anything has changed??

So I've been running my phone with these changes for about a week or more. I don't think this is a placebo effect but when I was simply rooted, if my signal dropped to zero bars I would not get SMS or MMS unless I went to Update Profile through the menu. This was needed every single time it did that. It would not send SMS or MMS either, I would only get a Not Sent error through my SMS app, not some error code from the phone. It was horrible, because if I did not notice the error I would miss texts for hours.

Since going through this I have noticed that even when it shows zero bars I can send and receive texts. I know that could just be a visual thing and not truly representative of the actual signal I'm receiving but it seems to have fixed my issues. Once again thanks to everyone for all the work.

Are you s-off? If so, just download one of the VM firmwares below. If you just want only the hboot, you can find that in the same thread.
Update through your bootloader and you should be able to boot the stock rom.

Alternatively you can run the RUU which will put you back on the stock rom. It will return you completely to stock.

I may have done something stupid, but I installed the 1.14 updates, all of them, one my evo v after having gone through everything in the first post (that was successful). I wanted an updated radio file, but did everyhting, and now Im stuck on boot loops. Harmonia was looping, I unlocked, went back to stock rom, and still stuck in a boot loop... what can I do? Please help! Thanks!

That's weird. You usually don't see bootloops unless you flash an incompatible hboot but that file contains hboot 1.57. What rom were you on before you did it?

I was on Harmonia, because I had just finished doing everything in the first post of this thread, even the PRL too... everything was successful. I saw the post about the 1.14 radio and for some reason it sounded like a good idea to update it, and so I did. It took two goes in the bootloader, but it seemed to go ok, untill it started looping. I somehow managed to get the radio back to .97, hboot back to 1.04 ( or vice-versa, don't have the phone with me now) and go it to boot with Harmonia again.

I think my last problem (though I didn't get enough time to investigate further) is that I can't get it to unlock now. There's no message at the top of the bootloader about its loked/unlocked/relocked status. Could this mean anything? I'll post more information when I can. Thank you!

should we be flashing a 60690 PRL when the Virgin Mobile PRL is 61009 (newer)?
does it enable roaming outside the Sprint-home network?

You cannot get Roaming no matter what you do, Virgin locks it out at the server level.

Sometimes Sprint doesn't always give Virgin access to all towers, Sprint PRL's do. Sprint PRL's are updated more often.

Sometime PRL makes a big difference, usually it doesn't.

Also, don't compare Sprint and Virgin PRL numbers, they are numbered differently. So while numerically Virgin is newer, that doesn't mean that that it actually is newer.

yeah, you would need a different hboot and changing hboots requires s-off... and please dont worry about s-off, its drastically overhyped... i got it on my first try.... just start a thread the day you plan on getting s-off and the great people here will help you through it...
