Root Unable to download TWRP 2.5.0 using GooManager

Well, I THINK it worked. However, now I have a weird problem--no SMS text capability. I can receive messages, but I cannot send any. At all. Both GoSMS and stick message app messages keep failing. Probably unrelated, but several reboots haven't fixed it.

Damn Jedi tricks!!!

we can fix that.....but are you s-off?

Now I just have to decide which ROM to install. I'm not one for a lot of fancy schmancy crap, which is why I used to love flex360's on XDA. He had a couple nice features I loved--more icons to fit on the screen, nice Rosie. However, he disappeared from there.

well for sense the top roms are viper and meanbean and for aosp it would be pacman and carbon.

i'm more of a aosp guy then sense. they are smaller than sense and they seem to have better performance and battery life IMO.

just make a nandroid backup and try them both.

Well, here we go again, fellas. I tried to download Viper ROM directly to the root of my SD card, but that same, damn message popped up:

You can't save here. Please choose another location.

Why the hell can't I directly download ANYTHING to either my phone or its SD card? I'm forced to save it to my PC and copy and paste it, assuming that doesn't corrupt anything.

Nope, it's not. It's a brand new 32GB card with some 29GB of free space. Remember that I reformatted it, too. Also, recall that I am unable to directly download not to just the SD card but also the phone itself--no destination works. Weird.

Anyway, I've got an early start tomorrow with a long day ahead of me, so I probably won't get to this until Thursday; I don't want to rush it. However, I hope you can answer a few questions before I install Viper:

  1. Do I need to flash a kernel, or is this ROM good to go?
  2. Do I need to flash any radios, or will the current ones suffice?
  3. Will this overwrite my TWRP 2.5.0 with an older version?

Anything else on which you can comment, feel free to do so. Thanks.

first off, just curious on how full your internal sd card is?

all roms come with kernels and you have s-off now so you do not need to worry about kernels unless you want a specific custom kernel (like anthrax among others) which can give you better batter life then the stock versions that usually come with the rom.

if you are current with your firmware then you should be good to go. you can downgrade the touchpanel if you do not want it or if you plan on flashing aosp roms.

flashing roms will not touch your recovery unless you manually switch the recovery before flashing a rom.

just make sure to do a nandroid backup before you flash a rom.

Yup. I always do a nandroid backup.

To answer your other question--I have a 32GB SD card, of which 29.4GB shows free.

no you are getting confused here. the phone has two places for storage. there is the internal sd card(internal memory) and then there is the actual sd card.

on your phone, you will find that there is a download folder found in the internal sd card as well. your internal sd card maybe getting full.

Through both my PC and the phone. I have also used an app to double-check, and all sources show plenty of space. Remember, this is a new phone with not much on the external card, internal card, or phone itself.

When I download, I click on a download link to the file from my PC, the normal route, and choose the destination to where I wish to save said file. I then select "save," and it's supposed to simply save to that destination/folder. I've been doing it the same way for as long as I can remember; I haven't changed a thing. For some reason, something is preventing me from downloading directly to any destination on the phone.
