[Verizon] [ROM]JDX (formerly Jelly Belly) AOSP+ - v15 (7/28)

I am really diligent wiper, I've actually never dirty flashed anything. One thing I'm new to though is format\system, data, and cache. Do you format all 3 of these?

I just do system in cwm. The others are done when you do wipe data/factory reset.
If you're using cwm that is

3 known and repeated bugs for me:

1. Can't change the amount of time after screen turns off that face unlock takes effect. It stays at 5 seconds regardless of what I choose.

2. Can't get owner info to stick. I'll type of in, but whenever I go back, it goes back to blank.

3. Google search FC's when I try to interact with the results. For example, I search for "convert 5 kilometers to miles." The results pop right up and gives me the option to adjust the number of miles or kilometers. But as soon as I touch either the miles or kilometers, it FC's.

Just clean wiped and flashed 3.4 again + gapps 7/13. Bug 1 and 2 are fixed, 3 is still there, which sucks because that's the only I really cared about.

JB...not sure if you want to add this.link to the OP, but these are the Inverted GAPPS that I am using.
I am currently using the Phonsky, Calendar, Gmail and MMS and I am on 3.4. They all work fine on my Nexy, but no guarantees on everyone else's...so make sure you have a nandroid or can flash back to 3.4 and Gapps.
I download to sdcard/download, reboot into recovery, wipe dalvik, flash all of the mods I want to add, wipe dalvik and reboot system. They are all finally working again for me!!!
Also: Please remember that Jakeday says to make sure you wipe Dalvik before AND after you install any mods....not sure if that is still applicable since he said it back when he was doing the ports, but I still do it, and they are working perfectly for me!!!

Good luck!!

How do I clean wipe? Sorry to ask such a basic question but I want to make sure that I do not miss anything as so many seem to be having issues when they don't get it right. Someone mentioned doing it from cwm but I don't see a choice for that.

I will add it today and thank you. I'm always hesitant to add mods that I don't try or use but you gave such a good explicative post on it I think its a worthy mod that many would want. Appreciate your feedback Ryan :)

Why not do it from CWM? Where else would you do it? ROM Manager?

For some reason, 3rd Party apps accessing and wiping partitions in JB are notoriously insufficient. You most definitely want to go into CWM from a power off state and do your wiping/flashing there.

Hold down BOTH Volume Up AND Volume Down keys, and while doing that, press the power button in. All 3 depressed until the phone vibrates, then let go. Use Volume Down to navigate to "Recovery" and use the Power button to select it. That will start CWM.

do a data wipe / factory reset in CWM. 3 times. Then go into "Advanced" and Format Dalvik and System.

Flash the ROM, then immediately flash gapps. EDIT: Go into "Advanced" and fix permissions.

Reboot system.
The first boot will take a long, long time! Don't panic - go get something to drink :)

EDIT: DO NOT WIPE ALL USER DATA! That also wipes your SD card/ internal memory, which is where your ROM is sitting, waiting to be flashed. You do that and you suddenly have a very nice (but expensive) paperweight!

EDIT EDIT: Basic questions are good! A lot of newbie lurkers are reading this and want to jump in without joining the conversation. We wish they would join in, but I will never NOT answer a question because it's "beneath" me. Nothing is too basic. We would rather you ask and get this right than not and end up messing something up.

NS, did you Fix Permissions in recovery?

No. I saw that JD mentioned it in the first post, but I heard some people saying over here that it may not have been required. What menu is that under in CWM?

EDIT: Fix Permissions didn't help the FC issue in Google Now.

You're confusing RM\rom manager with CWM/clockworkmod recovery. It is safe to open the RM app and boot into recovery. Then, in cwm, wipe data/ factory reset, wipe cache partition, go to mounts and storage and format system, go back, advanced, wipe dalvik. Hope this helps!

It's not a total paperweight, but there is only one option to save the phone. One would have to flash a stock image through fastboot like I had to do yesterday. And it sucks.

I know, there is a final option to attempt a restore. But it's a rather tricky bit, especially for new guys.

I wasn't trying to scare anyone away from ROMming with it; ROMming has way more benefits than risks! And it is ALMOST impossible to truly brick a Nexus. But I would much prefer to avoid that whole scenario, hence the warning.

ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) is a very useful, but very powerful, tool in the ROMming process. And like any powerful tools, it must be used with confidence and respect.

My 0.02 :)

I completely agree. Using recovery is much safer and you don't hear about many people hard bricking their phones using cwm.

Ah spit. I'm hesitant to post things I haven't flashed and checked out. But just for you, I replaced the old 1% circle battery mad with the Fast Soft Keys/Circle Battery mod for 3.4 :)

Chief,

You using the wilyjay mod, blue zenyth, that is in your dropbox? What all does it mod? Do you like it?

Not a newb but lurker beacuse most of my questions have been answered. Right now im on V2.6 and debating to update to 3.5 I dont want to have to go through all the trouble again of setting my phone back up

Alright. 3.4 installed and running. My first question was GOING TO BE - why didn't my apps from the play store auto-download as they always do?

Now my first question is why doesn't my Play Store work? It DID work. It reported an available update for Google +, which I installed. I also looked through the settings of the play store to see if I could get the auto-download to work. I didn't change anything.

I went to work for an hour and decided to look at the play store again. The icon is still there but when I click on it, it says, "App isn't installed". I opened the app drawer and sure enough, it is gone. Gmail is there and it works. Calendar is there and it works.

I reinstalled the Gapps for jellybean from CWM. Same result.

Any suggestions?

Am I the only one using TWRP still? Sounds like all the new users went back to CWM.

I am on TWRP and will likely NEVER go back to CWM. I tried CWM regular and Touch versions, and TWRP just has them beaten hands-down.

Chief,

I am using the Willjay mod, just flashed it, and I absolutely LOVE it! It's a smoother, better-looking battery % mod, and the soft keys at the bottom are (a) the same blue as the notification bar so it matches; and (b) all futuristic looking. It's gorgeous!

I'm trying to post a screen shot and for the life of me, I can't do it. I used Reduce Photo Size to drop the resolution down to where AF will take it... but neither PC I own can see the freaking picture! Every other jpg shows up but that one

Well I updated from v2.5 to 3.4 and JB Bootloader and all is working great so far. To the above posts, I've been using TWRP with nothing but great results.

The only irritating thing about 3.4 right now is the google voice always displays my weather results here in South Carolina in Celsius not Fahrenheit...I have to physically say Fahrenheit for it display the results that way. My older versions did not do that :(

Are you using the 7-13 gapps? Try this: wipe cache/dalvik, flash gapps 7-13, then in "Advanced" Fix Permissions. Reboot.

There is no reason why Play would not be installed.

If THAT doesn't work, I might suggest flashing the 7-12 gapps.
