What the heck is the deal with iphone users Vs Android users

I don't understand why Jobs has to take all the douchey, dickish jabs at the competition. Completely and totally uncalled for. The guy is obviously a brilliant guy. Must he be a prick as well?

This pisses me off...

The other manufacturers have made tablets, ergo, they copied Apple?

ok i think we are forgetting something here, tablets were out WAYYY before apple deiced to come out with one. I know those tablets may not have sold as much as the ipad, but apple is the one who copied. Im just saying, there werent the first. NOR were they the first to come out with a tab with a dual core processor. I guess when they launch the iphone 5 with a same dual core processor thats in the ipad 2, they will say they are the first one to "ship in mass." Apple makes good products, but the way they twist words makes me sick.

I just heard that Ford is suing Chevy for copying them. Turns out that Chevy got the idea for making cars from Ford. Damn copycats.

I just don't get all the hype Apple seem to get whenever they launch a product , especially when its been done before.

Jobs never said they invented the tablet. In fact, during the 1st iPad keynote, he acknowledge the 10 years of tablet pcs that came before the iPad. The difference, which is very obvious is the shift in paradigm.

The iPad is the first multi-touch low-powered ARM processor that did not use a Desktop OS. It specifically runs on a mobile OS. It has a 10 hour run-time and a rich eco-system.

Compaqs came before it but they ran Windows. Dell had the Axim but it used a stylus and had horrible battery life. Nokia had the N770. Etc. Etc. Etc..

You have to remember that Apple made the 1st ARM processored powered tablet called the Newton in the late 80s. That project flunked but they are definitely on to something. People want tablets to be a consumption device.

My best friend's told me today his wife just got an iPhone (Verizon)... ugh. I'm gonna hang out with them and his wife will try to rub in how she has the ultimate phone when in reality it's inferior just like her iPad she got at Xmas time...

Really, read what you just said.

try to rub in

Why not let people enjoy what they have and let it be. Why make it an agenda.

I do feel that Apple has made many great products. They also are very good at marketing the products and the company. There are many things about Apple products that are very eye-catching. The iPad 2 cover is really cool. It's pretty much a stand that doubles as a cover to me.

What really bothers me about Apple is that their childish behaviour sometimes. They put out a quote by Samsung which was an actual mis-quote. No doubt that Apple knew this quote was wrong and they used it anyway to take a jab at Samsung.

This is exactly how I feel. They do make superb products, often at an inflated price but I absolutely despise their some of their marketing techniques.

Jobs said that everyone else coming out with a tablet is a "copycat".

I think I agree with the statement to some degree.

The iPad is popular and bringing out the various Android tablets is partly in response to the iPad. Nothing odd or strange about it.... success breeds innovation, and competition. Develop a new OS and you will find a way to create a phone or a tablet. Can't be avoided, it is natural progression and being a copycat can't be avoided.

Perhaps rather than saying Apple invented this or Google copied that, perhaps we should talk in terms of who put it all together and made it a success.

Apple started it to some extent and Apple leads the way. At least for now. And lets not get into this who invented what first; that game can include examples that go back to 1888 or thereabouts.

Remember those cool black and white picture phones? I think AT&T offered them. So for those of you that think Face Time is cool, it is not an Apple creation, it was dead and gone before many of you were born.

Like the iPhone "reinvented" cell phones, the reason I think we have android tablets is because of the iPad. The reason we have Android phones is due largely to the iPhone.

I was "surfing" the web on a Palm VII long before smartphones and tablets arrived, so where is our credit for inventing a device that fits in the palm of your hand, gets your email, and gives you web access?

Then there are the Windows CE products that predate the iPad, the Newton that predated the Palm PDA, and the Amiga full color/stereo sound computers that were available when Apple only had black and white units. So who invented what or copied what matters very little. Whoever brings the device to market and makes it better is who should get the credit. Or most of the credit, anyway.

In my opinion, that is.

If they made a tablet using the old Palm OS - I'd buy it! Could even control a motorized telescope with Astromist. Palm was efficient and did most things really well.

Archos seems to have been doing fairly well at this long before Apple came along with the iPad. So, I guess you can say Android was the first Mobile OS tablet, and Apple followed along.

I looked at the Archos at the time, but the screens were too small. And yes . . . you could argue your point, most certainly. But the Palm predated both, so we were first. Or perhaps Apple Newton was before us.

Is he under the impression that Apple products self destruct after 365 days? What a ****. Many Android enthusiasts think Apples development time table is s l o o o o w... and he is bashing them for what, moving too quickly? If that's what he thinks of Apple, I would hate to see his Android rant. It must be ten times as harsh!

He must be a HUGE Windows fan.

Oh and Bob, could you please change your name to Robert or Bobby. Your name pisses me off too.

:D

Honestly, I think they do all the hype because it works the fanboys into a lather.

+1

Mr Jobs, like a certain Mr Gates and one Mr Ellison before him, is a master of playing to his key audiences i.e. his company's shareholders, investors, technology partners, employees and existing users. It's all about making them feel good about the their investment, whether that is in time or in money. It's simply PR dressed up as yet another "important keynote speech", which the faithful will lap up willingly and the sceptics will rip holes in. Either way the Apple brand gets plenty of free publicity.

In other news, the world remained serenely spinning on its axis and 99.9% of its population replied "a what?" when asked their opinion of the iPad2. :)

Who cares what he thinks? He's bashing a product that he's never even used. I've never heard of him before this thread, and I will probably forget all about him in 5 minutes. Buy what you want, based on your own user preferences, likes, and dislikes.

amen, and amen good sir
