Check in your Settings >> Notifications menu that the Assistant app is Enabled and then check the Battery menu so Assistant is allowed to keep running in the background.
(.....it can be a handy feature but don't be surprised when your battery's idle power usage takes a little hit. Don't forget the more things you set up to do automatically and continuously that are otherwise kept in a low-power, sleep status, it's your battery that's affected.)

It would, but Samsung never promised 5 years' updates back when the S9 series was released: they have increased the support period for the Galaxy s series since then. I believe that back when the s9 was released it was 4 years, which is admittedly still better than many manufacturers do.

I have a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and it won't leave me alone about it! I think it's the watch and not Wear OS, though, but it will tell me to get up and walk... if I'm driving, it will tell me "great job!" Apparently it thinks I can walk 45 MPH going down the road LOL but you think it will track my indoor rower exercise? Heck no... because it's not moving, I guess... who knows

Yes, that's correct but only conditionally. Photo files will have varying amounts of EXIF data embedded in them, with some having very extensive amounts of info (camera type, date, location coordinates, resolution, etc.) and some with only minimal info (date and file size). So no if some aspect like GPS coordinates don't already exist in a photo file's metadata, an app like Google Photos cannot magically add those missing GPS numbers after the fact.

WiFi Calling Not Working Suddenly

OK, bummer. Would have been nice if it was just a router restart to fix things. So try a different WiFi network. If it's still a problem elsewhere, that might be an indicator the issue is with your phone. Since it was working fine previously, can you think of anything that might have changed approximately around the same time as when you started to have this problem?

You might want to try looking in your phone's Settings menu for a Network Settings Reset option. This reset all network related services back to their default settings so it is a bit of a drastic measure. (It's not just WiFi settings but cellular and Bluetooth so saved WiFi networks will be wiped as will saved Bluetooth pairings. You'll need to redo them accordingly as you try to interact with each again.) See pg.143 of your Verizon S10e User Manual:

Help RCS Messaging intermittent

You should follow these tips:

  • First check the internet connection is working fine.
  • Update your Google Message app.
  • Check the RCS status from Settings.
  • Switch from cellular data to Wi-Fi.
  • Disable Chat feature on your previous phone. For this, open the Messages app and then hit on three dots. Next, tap on Settings > Chat feature. Lastly, toggle off “Enable chat features”.
  • Reset the network settings of your device.
All these solutions has been taken from RCS (Google Messages) not working on Android. So, if the above methods didn’t help then you can follow other tips from this article.

Having an issue

So what happens when you try to boot it? Is it by any chance asking you to provide a Google username+password? If it is then you need to provide the login credentials of the last Google account used with that phone.

This is an anti-theft measure known as "factory reset protection". Prior to its introduction it was possible to steal a phone, go into recovery mode (without needing to unlock the screen) and reset it, then use it or sell it. The idea is to reduce the attractiveness to a thief by making that impossible, but of course it will also catch people who forget the password or who get a phone legitimately from someone who doesn't know about this (if you want to sell a phone you should remove your account from it before resetting in order to avoid this).

The catch is that it only works as an anti-theft measure if there is no way of getting into the phone without the login details. So if this is the problem you are facing we can't help you: my advice in this case is to speak to the person who you got the phone from and ask them to unlock it (or provide the information you need to do so yourself).

If the problem is something else, could you describe exactly what happens when you try to boot it up and log in?

Quick Persistent Icon \ Auto Fill Question...

I have a Motorola G Power w\ Android 11 on it, and after recently resetting the phone, noticed that along with the voicemail updates there is now a stopwatch \ clock icon at the top of the screen and on the lock screen. It's not associated w\ any other app, and will go away when I clear the storage and cache, but comes back as soon as I get a text, along with a 'welcome to voicemail' popup... The latter I'm able to get rid of with a quick swipe, but don't seemingly have an option within the voicemail app itself or any other setting to stop the clock icon.

And this is less of a thing but still a thing; some old email addresses I had on the phone before the reset keep popping up with the autofill... I went to the Google app itself as well as the keyboard settings, and couldn't find where I could remove the emails \ words in general from the autofill \ auto complete.

In this case she's paying a price she shouldn't have to because her carrier apparently isn't able to rescind putting her number in the spam listing. You would think there should be some kind of administrative over-ride for mistakes and false positives.

Help Disable notification pop up

I don't think it's possible without turning on Do Not Disturb forever and adding in any 'exception' as an app within those settings. It's frustrating especially when all modern phones make sound for even the most insignificant notification. I mean, I only need sound and pop-ups for calls, texts and email. That's it. Nothing more. But today, modern phones make sound for something as innocuous as a tweet, or a news article, or even something as stupid as the 'Google Assistant is listening' or 'Bixby Voice is turned on' or 'Configuration update is downloading in the background.'

Even worse, is that turning each of the hundreds of notifications off to get a sense of what life was like in 2010 is like pulling weeds. Just when you think you got 'em all, another pops up! It can take days to get rid of all the useless notifications and unfortunately many cannot be turned off (such as the one asking you to add a Samsung Account!). This and many other reasons are why I use a bare bones Android-based flip phone that ONLY makes sound for texts and calls as that's all it does.

TL;DR: using Do Not Disturb 24/7, adding apps you want notifications from as 'exemptions' is the easiest way to get rid of this problem. Not optimal, but thank Google for making life far more complicated than it needs to be.

Help Calling cards for LG125DL?

This doesn't work for any cellular phone. I used to try that trick with unactivated Nokia 5100-series phones in hopes of making them work in a sort of half arsed prepaid fashion before prepaid became standardized. The calling cards are only for getting cheap long-distance rates, not for making use of an old cellular phone without an active plan. They also only work for landline phones. I haven't seen them even sold since 2012.

Back in the early 1990s, setting the NAM parameters a certain way on an unactivated Nokia and dialing any random number would get you to an automated system called the "American Roaming Network" which would ask you to provide a credit card # and a phone number to dial, which only worked for outgoing not incoming, and I think that went out with AMPS mobile service. It wasn't cheap, either, and cost $4 per minute. Was kinda cool to show off an old bag phone attached in your car to someone though.

The LG125DL is also called the 'LG Classic Flip', a tracfone flip phone that runs either KaiOS or a very stripped down AOSP Android base. The cards they accept are Tracfone prepaid cards, the cheapest being the $10 30 minutes plan. You should be able to find those in any Walmart, Dollar General or Family Dollar among other stores.

Ocnbrz, if you think using calling cards is odd today, heck, I still use a rotary telephone at home.

"Confirm: A read report will be sent" on MMSs from one contact

Happy to help, but my issue remains unresolved.

EDIT: I just tried to revive my Galaxy S4 Mini, and it works, but the pop-up still happens when she sends me a MMS photo. I found out it's definitely how my phone is handling RCS messages since on hers she can see them show 'delivered' 'sent' and 'seen' when she sends me messages, and hers shows a typing indicator if I'm typing one out. When she sends MMS, the phone interprets the message in two ways: both as an 'urgent' (shows a ! next to envelope symbol in notification area) and confirms the 'read/seen' status on her phone via a read receipt. Annoying as all get out but something I suppose I have to live with.

TIL: the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini (Verizon Variant) is VoLTE compatible. Who knew?

How do I transfer my blocked numbers list?

I use the Google phone app, so no matter what device I am logged into using the Google phone app, will also have my blocked phone numbers on it automatically. No list needed.
I also use Calls Blacklist Pro, which can generate a blocked caller list in text format.
Again, if I use this app on a different device, my blocked numbers are automatically transferred, no list needed.
So, OP... What app are you using?
