Roboball Challenge

Some screenshots and two facts about “ Roboball Challenge”. Just for fun (sorry for mistakes, English is not my native language)

1. I caught one funny bug during game development. Due to the turn timer bug, we started to play without turn changing. Moreover, there was no calculated delay implemented yet, so my opponent made hits one by one without any delays. It was running just like a clockwork toy. And the typical score was 10: 1 or 12: 2 with no chance for me. AI smashed me easy no matter how excellent I tried to play. I thought then that it could be a great feature. Now you can test it by yourself with the game difficulty setting to “Ultra”. Excepting one moment now opponent has got calculated delay before hit the ball. And it gives you a chance to win.

2. How I made a decision to create this game? One summer evening I was busy with my lodge (I started to build it this spring). I was hitting nails and thinking about soccer. I like soccer and I like to play soccer, but like many other people, I haven’t enough free time to play. After hitting my finger with a hammer I dropped wooden plank and at this moment I dream with all my heart about robot, which can help me with the building process. And then I hopefully will have a time to play soccer. And the robot will be my opponent. I’ve found this idea very funny. And I decided to make a simple mobile game, which I can play in a pause during lodge building. And if my game will be interesting for other people (and will give me some money to finish my lodge) so why not?

Update WebView Component Alone on Asus Tablet ME172V

I have a pile of Asus Tablets (ME172V) that have Android 4.1.1 (max) installed on them (donated to our tiny private school by a university).

I'm developing a primitive browser app (locked to one domain) for school use, and I'm implementing the WebView component in Android Studio to do so.

Due to the age of the Android OS, the WebView component does not seem to support certain modern CSS functionality. This is causing me some serious issues.

I want to know if there's a way to manually "update" that functionality in place, by itself (just the WebView component). Is there are way to do this without needing to update the entire OS (which is probably impossible given the age of the tablets)?

Linux that will embarrass those other OSes

And Ubuntu has a very friendly forum
Years ago, when I was very active there, it had turned into a clique-ish, holier than thou, unwelcoming cesspool. They treated newbies like morons. And the funny thing--in my UNIX-since-1985 book--was that THEY were newbies, too! These were like 1- or 2-year Ubuntu users, self-proclaimed as Linux gods. Their treatment of new users really turned me off. That was...I don't know, maybe 10 years ago. I'm glad to hear it's friendly now.

Good post, though. :) If windows people who use and love Android just made the mental leap, they could be happily humming along in an all-Linux world like I am.

The same author as in the OP explained in another article 5 reasons you should switch from windows to Linux right now. I recommend reading it for anyone sick of windows, or just wanting a better OS.

Root How to map buttons to apps

I'm curious if you can map physical buttons to firing up an app. For example pressing the volume up button while the phone is asleep etc.

I have not tried this myself, but here's an app that claims to do that...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton&hl=en_US

Here's a direct quote from the description of the app...
"Remap buttons to launch any app, shortcut or custom action with a single, double press or long press."

Endless Background Service In Android Ore or More

If you don't mind do you have an example code or some thing like that for that work instead documentation.
It will be a big help.

I wrote a tutorial that demonstrates how I use a JobIntentService with fully working example project and code here:
https://techstop.github.io/android-broadcastreceiver/

Now here's the thing, there are different ways to use this service, so the example a linked above may not be what you're looking for. If not do a google search for "how to use jobintentservice" and plenty of tutorials will come up.
