Root ROOTING For Dummies

In my phone info, it says I'm using software so, but I keep getting notices from Sprint asking me to download the new "ota software upgrade" or something.

What is it trying to get me to download, since it's clearly not a "new" update to Gingerbread? Or...is it and I'm just that confused?

what phone do you have? are you sure that is the correct software version? so HTC pushed two software updates since gingerbread. we had the official gingerbread ota (software is 4.22.651.2) then we had the maintenance ota (software version 4.24.651.1). the previous ota was froyo and that was 3.70.651.1.

so your software does not match. go to phone settings/about phone/software info.
 
MikG Updated again? Man those guys are sharp! I am still not even used to the 2.42 version and they are already out with 2.45 I wish I wouldnt have to wipe my phone clean each time I had to install an update! So what I guess thats what we have to do to have a better ROM on our phones:)

Ha, yeah Mik is quick like that. Try making themes for him, :eek: tough to keep up sometimes.

However with each build he puts out, there's no doubt it's going to be better than the last build.

So as OC said, GET UR FLASH ON! :D
 
hey ocn I see you getting attacked with all those questions for the new gingerbread root HaHa! I just wanted to know if you did an update to your snergry 7/22 I think virus updated the version because there was one recently developed. Have you tried the new ROM with the 3.0 sense? Any recommendations?

Also once you partition your sd card can you ever make it back to the original meaning taking the partition away.

yeah it is like someone opening the floodgates!:(
i tried the 8/11 nightly and it took forever to bootup. and my apps would not install to the sd card correctly so i'm back to mik3d which is an amazing sense3.0 rom

Maybe you should've made another user name HaHaHa! I just read every post on the Mik 3d and I got to say most of the people are very impressed. I will probably wait a little bit till he does another update.

How old is that guy who makes all these programs? Must be a genius!

he has a team so it is not all just him. but yeah he is crazy good with his roms. you really should try this one out. i keep coming back to this one.
 
I wasn't sure where to ask this so I'll just ask here.

After finding a rom and kernel I'm content with (for now), when can I remove the .zip files from the other roms and kernels? I'm still new to the whole rooting process but have already flashed a few things.

once they are flashed youcan go ahead and delete them. i always keep at least one zip of a rom and kernel onmy card just in case.

Are you on the beta or still the alpha?

When it comes to the Evo Rom's, technically it is all him...he won't tell you that because he's just that humble of a guy but he really does all the work with opting and building the roms. Pretty amazing work he does.

Koolaid, have you flashed any themes or are you running it stock?

PS. He's in his late 20's.

I just have the MikG 2.45 I havent flashed the Mik 3D as of yet. I still have to partition my sd card! :D

Well there are themes for the roms, which change the colors etc...check out the themes/mods section. I have one that is purple that I am going to update tonight for 2.45.

dude this thing feels much faster then a1 and i have not tried a kernel to overclock yet. nor have i tried the supercharger yet either.

Could you keep us posted on how it works. Also once you install a different kernel and all along with the sbc? Thanks ocn!
