On the BMX battery front, someone asked him if it's better or worse than the Nexus S and he responded:

it's worse. With my S on att I get ten hours. This.. Tops 6 hours.. Its too thin

So 5 to 6 hours.

If that's true...then Google and Samsung have failed and this phone will be a flop. I'm still not buying it but if this turns out to be true...I'll be passing this phone up.

The purpose would be mostly space savings. If they don't have to design a removable battery door and a special compartment to house the battery where the user won't accidentally damage the internals, they get more room inside.

The purpose is also built-in obsolescence and to generate $$$ for service centers authorized to replace the battery for you.

I hope you're as wrong as an adorable 6 year old girl accidentally snapping her puppy's neck, Chief.

It's only wrong if she cooks and eats the puppy, and they do that in parts of the world so it's not really a problem.

well, i updated my avatar... now i'm part of the great star wars empire, too :D

Revan ftw ^.^

Glad to hear you've resolved your gender issues r4yN! Just know that we accept and affirm you no matter what. Be proud!

I know earlier you were thinking he was messing around, but when he's serious, you can pretty much tell. He and p3Droid are really the only ones I check now.

Tom Flemming keeps going on and on with his stupid "most interesting phone in the world" schtick that got old from the first one, and teamandIRC is only concentrating on his pornographic clocks and trying to get his wife to pose for them. Idiots.

You're right on that one, Chief. Google doesn't own the "Nexus" name.

Google fails to grab Nexus name ? The Register

Still, I stick to what I said about it being so synonymous with Google, I can't imagine that Google would agree to let it be named a Nexus if it was going to dilute their brand recognition. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Actually, Google already acquired this TM from Integra Telecom;)

Some of the rumors are beginning to sour me on this phone. Among them are maybe no SD card, maybe no LED, maybe bad battery life and maybe no replaceable battery.

When I think of how I use my phone and what I expect from it, my above list has a lot of weight. No matter how fast a phone is, if it can't last a day on a charge, it's usefulness declines. If I can't swap batteries, then it's worse. The guy I sit next to has an EVO and it's charging whenever he's at his desk.

I'd hate to have to think if running a particular app is worth the battery drain. Who wants to be afraid of unleashing the things power if it might mean a dead phone later?

I also use the LED constantly to know if I have email or missed a text. I need a lot of storage and like the idea of being able to swap SD cards.

Alone, none of these are deal breakers. Together they are starting to be.

With a DX and it's encrypted bootloader, I still have no idea what I'm missing. I can install ROMs (though I don't) so what else is there?

I'm not crapping on the NP and I'm not saying I'm not getting one. These are all rumors and I'm keeping them in perspective. With Samsung/Google messing around with the announcement (which didn't stop AT&T), I feel like we're being played.

My excitement is just waning, I guess. What I thought was a slam dunk is now just rolling around the rim (basketball analogy for non-Americans).

so here is my opinion:

1. Samsung Galaxy Nexus (SCH-i515):

-another version of the nexus prime, exclusively for verizon
- will be released on november 3rd
- CDMA
- OMAP 4460 (incl PowerVr SGX540 @~380MHz)
- 1GB Ram
- 4,65" curved HD SuperAMOLED Screen
- 5MP Camera
- Very thin & light
- 32GB internal storage, NO microSD-Card-Slot
- no touchwiz / verizon bloatware, as it has got the 'nexus' in it's name
- 1750mA/h battery
- 4g LTE & NFC

2. [Samsung] Google Nexus Prime (I9250 | US-Version)

-will be announced soon, and released ~ 2-4 weeks after the galaxy nexus
- GSM
- exynos 1.5GHz dual-core soc (probably the exynos 4212)
- 1GB Ram
- 4,65" curved HD SuperAMOLED Screen
- 8MP Camera with an enhanced sensor & lens
- Very thin (maybe not as thin as the galaxy nexus) & light
- no touchwiz, pure vanilla
- HSPA+ only
- NFC
- ~2000mA/h battery

2.5 [Samsung] Google Nexus Prime (I9250 | EU-Version)

- same as the US-I9250, but with 4G LTE support and maybe an earlier release

that's what i think of all these rumours.. i know you guys don't like it, but face it... verizon always got the 'crappy' (compared to the other ones [but not so bad at all]) ones...

well maybe i'm wrong, but i'd like the EU-Version to come with these specs :D

that would be really really nice if that was to come true but I am not so sure that non Verizon version will be coming out in the us this year. We shall find out soon enough tho

On the BMX battery front, someone asked him if it's better or worse than the Nexus S and he responded:

So 5 to 6 hours.

I wonder if he means continuous use though, I mean yeah the 1st week all I will do is have the phone in my hand and I will be glued to it, but as the newness wears off, during the day it will be on WIFI at home and work. I can get on avg. 12 hours on my OG droid and that's on the original battery...but on the weekends is where I end up needing to charge a lot more often. hmmm...:confused:

All I can say is yikes! If this is the case it will be UGLY! Many people struggled to get through the day on the TBolt and it was insanity. I think the battery life issues really hurt that phone although, I never had the same level of problem with it that many had...battery life in my TB is as good or as bad as my Droid 3. I get anywhere from 12-16 hours with my normal daily usage.

Some of the rumors are beginning to sour me on this phone. Among them are maybe no SD card, maybe no LED, maybe bad battery life and maybe no replaceable battery.

I think that the general consensus is that it will NOT have an SD card, it WILL have LED, it WILL have crappy battery life and it WILL have a replaceable battery. Yes, rumors all, but I think they've been pretty well substantiated. (No, I don't remember the links. . . .but no SD card has been said by more than a few people who've reportedly tested it, there was mention of an LED on the chin of the device, and no Android phone has ever released with a non-replaceable battery, to my knowledge.)

My excitement is just waning, I guess. What I thought was a slam dunk is now just rolling around the rim (basketball analogy for non-Americans).

I think this is natural. We've hyped this thing SO MUCH that anything that comes out will disappoint a good portion of us. The hype train on this thing is so crazy. Once the official specs come out, that hype will deflate quickly, along with a lot of people's hopes. There's no end-all phone, unfortunately.

And I don't think good battery with LTE will happen until the Krait 28 nm chipset comes out next year.

On the BMX battery front, someone asked him if it's better or worse than the Nexus S and he responded:

So 5 to 6 hours.

That's not good, with the rumors saying it will have either a 1750 mah, or 2100 mah battery I figured it would be much better than my Nexus S with only 1500 mah. I'm a pretty heavy user and the battery easily lasts all day.

Hopefully the battery life will improve. :)

I'm flat out calling BS on the 5-6 hr battery life from BMX. If that were the case, you can write this thing off as the biggest fail ever.

isn't that about what the bionic gets when you're actually using it? sounds about right to me. i would look at that as worst case scenario. turn off lte and you'll add some hours

I am not worried about the non-removable battery as long as the stock battery isn't crap otherwise it's an instant deal-breaker. I'm not asking for much, 12 hours of moderate usage would be enough to keep me happy.

I'm not too worried about non-removable SD card as long as it ships with 32Gb or more. I currently have 8Gb on-board + a 16 Gb card and that has been more than enough for me 2 years. 32Gb would easily be enough, though 16Gb would be cutting it pretty close. Anything less than 16Gb would be an instant deal-breaker.

Oh I'm sure he's talking continuous use. That's the key right there, guys. Who actually sits down and surfs the web or plays a movie on their phone for 5 or 6 hours straight? Right now we're on this thread 24/7, true, but that's because of the hype. Once we've had this phone for a couple of weeks, I think it will be fine. Provided it's connected to your PC for charging. :p

I don't know. When he says he's not really joking, I'll take him seriously. He's been spot on with a bunch of things before.

Besides, guys, I'm sure there will be 3000 mAh extended batteries out soon.

If that's true...then Google and Samsung have failed and this phone will be a flop. I'm still not buying it but if this turns out to be true...I'll be passing this phone up.

with that and having possibly no external SD card. Makes this phone an whole lot less desirable imo

Yeah if the OMAP 4460 is in it, at 45nm, and a 1750MAh battery? They may as well hardwire a power cord into it. But then again: I get maybe 5-6 hours on my Droid, so I'm used to having it plugged in most of the day anyway.

Now P3Droid is saying:

You are all wanting the i515 and im excited for the i815
What a Dbag.

Edit: Google search SCH-i815 gives me the impression it's a new tablet. So, no worries.

Edit 2: The bluetooth SIG for the 815 says it's a phone, though. So, worries?

I'm unsure of the Bionic, I never followed that phone. But coming from the original Inc, I will not accept a 6 hr battery life. Battery is something that is very important to me. I've lived with below average in this spec and I refuse to do it again. But I'm not passing judgement on the words of one person either. Still rumor and treating it as such.

the SD card situation for me is kind of an bummer I like to put music on there and store my titanium backups

Hmm...the tablet rumored to plug in to the Prime?

Shoot I'd blow through 16GB so fast MY head would spin! I need at LEAST 32GB... and I was hoping for a microSD card slot so I could slap a 64GB card in there. You start taking HD videos and pics, you're gonna fill up some memory in a hurry.

Lordy have I opened up a keg of worms here.... GrandmaDroid, BAIL ME OUT!

Grandma can't help you, but Steven and EarlyMon could make the bad people go away...

the problem with google is they don't know how to market anything properly. I don't see that changing anytime in the near future.

That's pretty sad for a company that makes 95% of its revenue from selling advertising.

Ohhhhhh my. I guess that could be one reason they'd downclock to 1.2GHz.

Excellent summary RichSz. My only deal-breaker is sealed battery, but other stuff is discouraging. NoLED is a partial solution if necessary.
