That is just some 3rd person trying to get some extra money. Those prices 99.9% of the time do not translate to us prices. The sgs2 was close in price to that and when it came to the US it was $500 off contract.

thanks, that makes me feel a little better, just wish somebody would give us all some sort of confirmation on whether the 16 & 32 gig versions will be available for all. wouldn't seem like a hard thing to do, ya know.

Yep,
Beautiful Widgets. Well worth the purchase from the Android Marketplace, which I believe was $1.82 at the exchange rate.

Not only is it nicer than the Sense clock with tons more customization, you can even turn on the full screen weather animations.

Just DL it, can't wait to check it out. THANKS

I don't have a great car for speed or anything but the one bone of contention in my family is that I refused to get a 4 door. Went from an old jetta to a Cherokee (god, I miss that beast), to my focus. All 3 manual and 2 door.

Please let this phone's release date be given soon. (there, I made my post on topic again)

If you want to talk about two door beasts... My first car

:) I always found it amusing especially on the older versions of Android. People sit there complaining about "Sense" then turn around and spend like TWO days downloading and configuring various application to emulate everything Sense does by default :P

Understood. I can only speak for myself, but I'm guessing people love ASPECTS of Sense, but not all. SO, if you can pick and choose what you like...

Agree if they gave a price and how many gb it would be I would be fine waiting on it. I just want to know how much I will have to pay full retail for the phone so what I know I need to have saved.

Being a potential first-time Samsung phone customer (still weighing my options), should I be concerned that Samsung is the manufacturer of the Galaxy Nexus? The Intertubes are full of people that complain about their Samsung-manufactured phones. I also am a disgruntled Samsung customer.... went through three Galaxy Tab 10.1 devices (all hardware-related issues) and settled on an Asus Transformer which has been perfect. I know the Galaxy Nexus won't have BloatWiz (or TouchBloat?), but are my reservations of the hardware legitimate?

I've owned a variety of samsung devices (rogue, fascinate, charge) and yes they were made of plastic but I never had any issues with any of them from a build quality standpoint. Some people think because it is plastic it is cheap but that isn't the case at all.

Sounds like you have just had some bad experiences. I own a ton of Samsung stuff, including the Tab 10.1, and the build quality is always excellent.

Perhaps there's a simple reason why the global Nexus is getting leaks and Verizon's version is getting no love at all:

NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT.

Maybe the global NDA is (a) less onerous or (b) harder to prosecute. But a Verizon NDA is all United States, baby... and that must be one helluva NDA for almost everyone to STILL be silent. Maybe it threatened to haul testers' families off to Verizon "re-education" camps and keep them there until they all come back demanding the Rhyme :p

So, I spent the morning getting ADB set up on my Win7 machine since my previous PC bit it. Got fastboot set up too, ready to push the inevitable recovery img. Bring on the Nexus, I am ready.

I guess I need to start figuring out how to do this ^ and soon. (A bit skeerd tho)

Yeah, adb changed a little. Instead of running everything out of /tools, it's now platform-tools. So you'll have to update that if running a prior build plus d/l the android 4.0 stuff. Then there's a fastboot file from Koush that you can add to platform-tools for quick and easy fastboot commands that will be handy for pushing a custom recovery to the Gnex.

A tutorial would be handy. I just wanted to get ahead of the game.

Uuummmmm, yeah.......have never looked at it. Period. :o

The plastic doesn't bother me... a device doesn't have to be made of a titanium alloy to be high-quality. I worry about the hardware issues I've read about that people have had with Samsung phones - as well as my experience with the Galaxy Tab. I really really REALLY wanted to like the Galaxy Tab 10.1 but I figured three chances for them to get it right was enough. Interestingly enough, I have a Samsung 58" plasma that's about two years old and has been 100% perfect since the day I first turned it on.

This will be a significant purchase and I'm making sure I do my due diligince, that's all.

ICS won't come to all other devices. And when it does come to some devices, how long will that take? Three months? Six?

You could be right on the camera, but I personally lean more towards it being a hardware feature more than a software feature.

I think it's a software update. There are too many "fast burst" type cameras in the market that do a much better job of taking no lag photos than the stock camera (at least on my Fascinate) to think it must be hardware. Just my two cents.

HTC would sell a lot more phones if Sense had an off switch like it did on the Touch Pro2. You could literally shut it down, not just hide it.

I thought the Kobiashi Maru was a test Kirk took in the academy,He reprogrammed the computer so he couldnt fail the battle scenario.

The test is a technically-unwinnable scenario in which the cadet is presented with a challenge involving the rescue of the civilian ship Kobayashi Maru.

And transparent aluminum replaced polymers everywhere, not just on the Enterprise. See Star Trek IV.

Sense has expanded since then. Remember, Sense is more than a launcher and widgets - it's that and a set of apps that try to operate together and make all your references people-centric, rather than app centric.

Much like ICS. (Yep. I said it, I meant to say it, and I meant what I said.)

And I noted with interest a few days back (while there was some debate on the matter) that it seems a few gigs were quickly set aside for ICS - another comparison to Sense.

I know Verizon Sense owners can't believe me - but VZW+HTC =/= Sense for the rest of us in terms of being able to get decent battery life out a full Sense. And Sense is hardware accelerated. From the Dinc and Bolt horror stories, ok if you don't believe me but this isn't a sidetrack and there is a point.

1. The ICS software stack is big.

2. It is analogous to Sense already in some interesting ways.

3. That doesn't mean it has to suck.

4. Even James T. Kirk rooted and fixed the brokey bits.

That's all. ;)

Not to spark another pentile debate, but is this really all we can expect from an HD screen? I'm very disappointed that I'm going to have to "settle"...I'd rather have crappy battery life and an awesome screen. Apparently an awesome screen just doesn't exist these days unless it's on an iPhone. I don't know...I may be looking at the HTC Vigor more closely when these things finally hit stores. My OG spoiled me!
I'm surprised at the difference in quality. I'm more surprised that this screen is not as impressive as I thought it would be.

It's like anything though. You will have to get it in your hands and judge for yourself. That and don't compare it to any other screens :)

I kid :) I'm sure when you go in and test it you will do a comparo. Which would be the smart thing to do. You may not even care that it's not the best looking screen and it meets your needs perfectly fine.

I do agree with you, you shouldn't have to settle and hopefully you won't. It may end up being perfectly fine for you.

You also have to take into account the camera that took the pics of the phones. To me the screen doesnt look like that when you actually hold it sometimes cameras take weird pics of the screen. I know that happened to me before and I would assume the screen looks a lot better since in the hands on videos it did not look like this at all.

There's like FOUR posts about cars... :( (I like cars) :)

This threads not even going to hit half the Dinc thread if this keeps up!

Hey - I'm just passing along what the back chatter is on that from your fellow posters.

This is tough group, it really is. :)

The issue is that this group is the most-read for new Nexus info - and people do get frustrated sometimes sorting through chatter hoping for a sliver of news.

Closer we get to the expected launch, the less tolerant people are likely to be of side-chatter. Just is what it is.

How we didn't more complaints on that dorky beer poster for Hanso Lo totally escapes me - but - is just is.

(Good cop! Earned donut! Self high five!)
