Root [ROM] CyanogenMod 7 for the LG Optimus M MS690

Can someone help me out? I have absolutely no luck with any cyanogenmod roms for the optimus m. I can flash it just fine but whenever I use any kind of data or just use it alot it always reboots. Ive tried fixing permissions Ive tried everything. The only conclusion Ive come up with is because my phone was 2.2.2 when i flashed the rom. Is that the problem? Does anyone have any insight?

I'm using CM7 (reppard's) and also have that problem, but typically, only when I try to use maps and the GPS to determine my location and then get directions. However, once the phone reboots, I can use the GPS/maps combo. It's an annoyance, but I have learned to live with it. I think it's just because of the limited memory in the Optimus M.

I've had no luck as well. My original phone would freeze and reboot 10+ times daily, I tried most of the CM7 ROMS with little change. I went back to stock and used the LG update tool to update to the most recent sw 2.2.2. After that I had no freezes and reboots stock, so I tried the CM7's again, reboot and freeze came back. Restored stock and am back to being stable. I'd love to get a stable CM7 running... getting tired of trying though.

I'm definetly a noob only been flashing roms for a few months. I was thinking it seemed like the memory dump as well. after I dark tremor a2sd'ed my phone I am having almost no reboot problems at all. I'm running cm7 Reppard on an optimus m that was rooted at 2.2.2 also

As a newbie I managed to get CM7 installed but can't get my gmail account to work. Gmail opens and closes. Market wants me to add an account but them just disappears. I can't seem to find a way to add my gmail account to my phone now. Other then that everything works fine on the phone.

Sometimes you can get a corrupt download. Download AFV(Android File Verifer) from the market. Make note of the md5 sum listed for the ROM and Gapps from their sites. After you download them check the md5 sum. If it doesn't match the download site then the download is corrupt, try again.

I flashed my Optimus M with every CM7 I could find for it (Reppards, BobZhome ROMs) I was running the 2.2.2 factory update as well. I never had the major rebooting problem that you are describing. They all seemed to work well, but I ran into some problems of my own:

Signal problems - Had 2-3 bars average with 2.2.2, EVERY CM7 ROM I installed said I had 0-1. Also would slip into roam, and stay in roam until I rebooted it

MMS problems - Pic messages were time stamped 4 Hrs behind time received, had to scroll up through msgs to see them

Transition from landscape to portrait mode was slow, 10 sec to respond

Market/Play Store - Got that stupid 'package file invalid' error. Removing play store upgrade helped, but soon the old market started doing the same thing (I think this was a problem on just my phone)

Other than those problems, the CM7 worked OK on my Optimus. Trivial little errors, but when compounded it drove me nuts.

This CM7 ROM worked best, and had working MMS ---> CM7.2.0RC0-MS690-BobZhome-031712.zip

Even better, you can use the KelsoMod 2.2.2 ROM kicking around AF. Yeah, it's 2.2.2 but it's debloated, runs awesome and my Optimus loves it. No reboots, no bullshit and uses a lot less battery than MPCS 2.2.2 ROM. CM7 is nice looking, but the MS690 favors Froyo over Gingerbread. Hope that helps, here is link for KelsoMod: http://androidforums.com/optimus-m-...pdated-1-20-12-ics-mint-theme-pbot-added.html

The newest BobZhome is known to have issues with my phone and someone elses phone, BACKside is said to work better and more stable
Newest build http://androidforums.com/optimus-m-...om-sap-backside-cm7-2-port-3.html#post4323540
First post (please read it, but don't download from there): http://androidforums.com/optimus-m-all-things-root/517309-rom-sap-backside-cm7-2-port.html

BACKside is also a CM7 rom btw

Thanks! I'll give this one a try :D Always looking for a new CM7 ROM to try out, hopefully my phone doesn't barf with this one!

Hey SammyZ do you know of anything about (RE: Signal issues) in my post? I read it has something to do with the baseband file? I dunno, even though signal reads lower on CM7 than my average with 2.2.2 my calls sound the same. Perhaps metro is running something that gives you false readings? :D

I flashed BACKside and loaded it up with all of my usual apps. I'm impressed ;D only problem I still have is my MMS pics received are still time stamped 4 hours behind real time. Is that some setting on my phone causing that? Oh well, I can live with that. Great work tho, this is the best my phone has run on CM7

You are getting less signal on CM7 because Froyo libraries are mixed with GB to achieve CM7 working with our phone. If we had GB source from LG the IHO source could likely be updated and we wouldn't have signal issues with CM7 in comparison to other ROMs. Has nothing to do with the bars being "faulty"

Oh, makes sense......and to the guy having time stamp problems, is your clock correct?

IDK when I check the stock rom it gives more bars at the same dBm. For example right now im at -101 dBm with the stock rom is showing 3 signal bars, under cm7 it would show just one bar at the same dBm.

That's what I figured was happening, since my phone with CM7 never dropped any more or less calls than Froyo did. Even with no bars present, calls seem fine.

My clock is set correctly. It's weird, text messages come in the present time, and pics/audio come in stamped 4 hrs behind, so I have to scroll up 4 hrs back in the conversation to see them. I'm not a heavy texter, so I never have to look far :) Anybody else have this problem?

I don't have an answer, just want to say you username is the best. :D

Thank you LOL. :shakehands: Renton.... I know that name from somewhere ;)

I'm a rookie at all this rooting stuff but here's my short story because I need a bit of help.

Recently I attempted to root my phone through z4root from a stock LG MS690 ( which completely failed) and ended up being stuck in fastboot mode. I attempted for weeks to fix the phone through the guides on here but had no luck, but, a friend of mine who isn't too far from as clueless about rooting as I am, managed to get it out of fastboot AND put the CyanogenMod 7.1 on my phone. Its taken awhile to get used, but I've managed to semi (barely) figure this phone out completely. I'm having some issues with how this mod is functioning, including but not limited to, low RAM, audio and video incapadibilites with Netflix, and over all slower everything. I haven't added anything I didn't have before and the basic speed and functions of this phone before ran smoothly. What I'm asking is this mod outdated? Can I modify this phone further? or even get it back to stock and restart from there? if I can get some professional help with this I would be extremely grateful.
before I made an account these are the only forums I came to for information. decided maybe if I could get myself heard I could finally get the right answers.

Are you sure it was this CM7? It could be BACKside (ported to the M), which isn't outdated, it could be BobZhome's ROM which was last updated in March. Go to settings>about phone>Mod version and tell me what it says.

Yes you can go back to stock.

Yes you can modify further.

Tell me what you would like to do.
If you are on this ROM, it is for the most part outdated.

Has anyone had problems flashing the Plague Kernel v2.0 he provided? i just flashed it to try overclocking and it only gets threw boot logo and animation than is stays stuck on a black screen. I left it loading to see if it will catch up eventually but its been more than 30 mins already. Also i did a nand backup b4 it, i tried to restore and it wont accept it for some reason.

Never mind nand backup worked now, problem was a low battery. The plague kernel 2.0 never worked if anyone wants to share a fix.

It never worked for me either, but I do know BobZhome's kernel has settings from plague kernel in it...
