Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

My wife just got home and yup.. even though our mother's days are different, our daddys days are the same lol.
Just set myself a reminder to drop him a text tomorrow (we arent very close though) :)

What grinds my gears?

Drunk drivers. I went to church and when I was driving on my way home the car in front of me speeds 4 lanes over and runs into a small pack of trees and bushes... I sped up the car and made a sharp u-turn to get to the wrecked one and I called 911. The car smelled of marijuana, alcohol, and gasoline. The police got there and she's stumbling over saying she tried to avoid a dog that ran across... total B.S., there was no dog and if she was that drunk she wouldn't have noticed it anyways  she got arrested thankfully and she was the only one in the car so nobody was hurt besides the concussion the lady got. It was a well deserved concussion IMO though. Ugh she missed me by a few feet...

Ill be an honest person and tell you i got a drink-drive (think the US call it a DUI?) Nearly 10 years ago. I took a corner too fast, over-corrected and spun unto the pavement (sidewalk) through a lamp-post (streetlight?) then into a tree.
It was just after school closing time so there were a lot of parents walking home with their children and it was a beautiful summers day.
I had drank a bottle of wine and was speeding.
I had to climb out of the passanger side window.
When i got out, all i could think was ""please, dont let there be someone under the car"". There wasnt so i sat on the bonnet(hood) until the police came and i asked for a breath test. At the police station, the official blood/alcohol level was 62 (nearly twice the legal level)
I got a stupidly cheap fine and 18month ban from driving!

Since that day when i think about it... imagine id wiped out a young family..... havent driven since and i wont.
Dont drive stupidly peeps k

Sucky. Hope your day is easy and that it flies by. Last weekend I didn't get to see my kids, my mother took them on a mini vacation. I felt lost! Was the first weekend in a very long time without them...

Your projected weather sounds better to me than what I'm "looking forward to" for the week. Today's high will be 92F (33C). The entire week is supposed to be upper 80s. Ugh.

What's the truck and what's the matter?

Ford Exploder Sport Trac. It's been making a lot of noise, air conditioner is borked, rotors are warped, oil change, etc.

I actually got a call 5 minutes after I posted that, and they said it was done.

$700, wasn't that bad. The noise was a bad front wheel bearing, and the tires were getting choppy, so they rotated em. Cut the rotors, recharged the AC, etc. They said the 4x4 needed lubed really bad. I've been using it a lot the last few weeks. The big thing was the mud build up. I was told to stop letting the mud build up so bad because it causes all kinds of crap to break.

The "Red Barron" drives a lot better now. :)

It's DUI/DWI in the U.S., and I was really surprised to see that after crossing 4 lanes into the opposite direction she didn't hit anyone... thankfully I don't drink so I won't ever end up drinking and driving...

You really should put the trick on a rack and house it down after taking it off-road, then follow that with a lin lube-job.

Katt, my weather forecast sits about 20

It isn't anyone's fault, but I'm very disappointed that I had to work all day, leaving before my son awoke, and wasn't able to get home until after he was put to bed. Didn't get my Father's Day cuddle. Didn't even get to see my son on my first Father's day.
:bawling:

That uber annoying loss of service tone that cannot be disabled in my Android phone. I swear I thought it died with ancient Kyocera prepaid phones from the late 1990s. I have had more than three Android Smartphones why does the fourth have this tone but the others do not? It is the exact same style tone as the Kyocera too!

My son got to spend his second fathers day with us this year, had all four of my kids and my two granddaughters, and a rare Sunday off... I have been working weekends for five and a half years now.

I work on smaller, regional jets-- 30-100 pax, depending on configuration; haven't had a crack at their simulators yet, though I have flown a few virtual warplanes whilst in the navy, half a lifetime ago.

You should be able to turn that off Nick. I can on my phone.

Go under Menu / Settings / Mobile Data or wherever your settings are, and uncheck "Data Roaming Sound" if it's there, and also see if there are any roaming guards for "Domestic Voice and Data". Uncheck these as well, and the annoying messages "should" disappear. :)

That setting doesn't exist. All that shows is a tick mark for turning off 3g data. I also cannot locate the sound in /system/media/audio either

Its not roaming, its an older sound one hears when the phone loses then regains signal. I haven't heard it since the Motorola StarTAC
