I'd stick with the directions listed. I came from a stock rooted 2.2, and only used the odexed zip linked to earlier in the instructions. I did that and it's still rebooting, but things seem to look okay so far.Should I also down load radio and all that or is the flash Rom okay?
what is the difference between odexed & deodexed?
Does anyone know if someone is working on releasing 2.3 with Sense 3.0 for EVO?
i did everything finnish reboot but all looks the same how do i know if it has the GB the android version is 2.3.3 am i good to go
Odex is the way files are stored in a Sprint ROM. They boot faster, but they cannot be modified. Deodexing allows devs to modify the apps.what is the difference between odexed & deodexed?

i just flashed the new rom.. posted here.. and it went around everything.. did a wipe davlik and cache.. took a while to boot up.. but all my settings and stuff are still the same.. sweet..
So, if its this easy to flash a rom, can someone explain what a Kernal does.. i see some people have asop and some weird kernal.. what does that do.. do you flash it like you would a rom?
Anyone out there have a fully fuctional 2.3 rom, without all the sprint bloatware?

So I flashed the new odexed rom (and did a cache and dalvik wipe before and after the flash) and it's booted up (new 3G icon was the first thing I noticed).
However, the phone seems a bit sluggish, and when I look at the stats in SystemPanel, something looks to be constantly maxing out the processor at 100%. Any thoughts?
So..For those who are Rooted and installed the official gingerbread update today, did any issues arise? did it break the root( which most likely it will)
For those who are Rooted and have not downloaded the update, will you be downloading it?
Last but not least, what should us Rooted users do? await an offical rooted version of gingerbread or dive into the OTA update and reroot later down the line?
Yeah nothing I see on the active apps is maxing out the processor; I'll try checking the history after a little bit like you mentioned.System Panel reports live updates of CPU usage by app/component... so it should say what's pegging the CPU... GO into SystemPanel, tap the pie graphs up top. Click the History tab at the bottom. Switch it from Plot to Top Apps. IT should list things in order of most CPU usage for the date range specified. If you just flashed, you might want to wait another hour or so, so it has more history to go by.
I just rooted my Sprint Evo 4g with Unrevoked for the first time about a week ago. Like a dummy, I tried to install the OTA updated this morning without coming here first. As it was trying to install I got the triangle with exclamation point warning. I pulled to battery to re-boot and everything seems to be fine. Obviously the update didn't install, but I don't appear to have lost root status since wi fi tether is still working like a charm.

Would be interesting to know if HTC has modified their OTAs to abort if the existing firmware isn't stock. The problems this used to cause was their justification for starting to encrypt their bootloaders. Maybe this new way is the best of both worlds.... Just a hypothesis.
As a precaution, I would check to make sure I still had s-off and hboot 2.10 or lower along with being able to get to recovery. If those are good, then you should be fine.
Thanks for the reply. How would I go about checking those 2 things?
