Root [BETA]Cyanogen!! Landed!!! :) Go get it![Updated 7/12/2011]

This is awesome. We're nearing a final build for cyanogen mod for the dx. As well as official cyanogen support for future updates.
 
Can someone give me the road map of getting back to 596 from CM7? I'm eager to try it out, but know I need camera/GPS too much to keep it. I'm on Apex 2.0 RC2 right now...Do I just have to flash the prerooted 596 in recovery and then apex again? Can I do a data restore once I'm back on apex....? Thanks...

if the camera/camcorder works...and the GPS functions as it should...im flashing CM7 on the spot...

totally off topic...

but i have very little experience with the AOSP camera...i only used it for a very short time on Liberty/ApeX on Froyo...and always replaced it with the Blur camera...

the Blur camera has the nice "scenes" features...i don't use it so much with the camera...

but i do the camcorder...especially the "concert" setting for loud sound in front of the camera....it REALLY helps to keep sound from distorting...

1. am i right in thinking the AOSP camera DOES NOT include this feature?
2. does anyone thing the Blur camera will work on CM7?...its the ONE feature i really like about Blur...

There is someone on RW looking into getting the blur camera working.... the issue is there are framework dependencies involved that don't exist in CM from what the post said :(

I'm back on cm7beta with CRT and gps fix. Gps is fine, now. Need camera and I may stay on this.

The thing is that I feel like I have a new phone and need to learn more about this rom.

What is stopping you??? Camera Illusion and Videocam Illusion both work to give you a working camera and camcorder. They are not the same quality as what we are use to, but both work fine to get the job done.

If we can now just figure out the issue with some of the streaming video playback (youtube and netflix) this will almost be perfect.

For a beta with the fixes that have been found this is very solid. Themes are so easy to apply now and the GingerBlur theme makes me feel at home on an even faster X.

Things to do:

Change the boot logo back to the Red M (hoping bochigo's mod works. ;)
Get the camera/video to work right.
 
Is anybody else having problems with the battery? It sayd charging, but just says 10% and wont go any higher

Is there a zip that includes the gps fix etc? If not, I'm waiting too.
 
So 3rd party camera apps work?
and it seems a GPS fix has been found too.

looks like I might have to swing on over to cm7 land. What kind of battery life are people seeing?

Not that great, there is a problem with cell standby sucking the battery away.


8hrs unplugged and I am at 50%.

mines at 70% ;)

I tried swapping all the camera files in system/lib but it only broke it further. Funny thing is, barcode scanner works fine.

Anyone tried oc'ing ( I used DX OC)? I can get it to set, but it doesnt stick after a reboot.

I was expecting to see better battery life since we did not have all the blur and it has maybe been a little worse. Most of the morning I was seeing about a 5% drop every hour while at work, texting, gmail and checking tweetdeck mainly, which was normal, I noticed Droid Overclock was not on and start it up and it started sucking down the battery a little faster, about 8% an hour. I will say that I did not notice that Droid Overclock was not working because of the performance, just noticed it on the widget. I am thinking of keeping my back-up but uninstalling.
