Ok, sounds like you have the stock recovery...
Now, Assuming that you are rooted...
What you need is the Modded Recovery that Hroark created. ( ClockWorkMod / CWM)

First download this:
Samsung drivers for windows ( install First)
http://api.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&drKey=1153&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fandroidforums.com%2Ftransform-ultra-all-things-root%2F430140-acs-root-transform-ultra.html%23post3332148&v=1&libid=1321059183200&out=http%3A%2F%2Fdl.dropbox.com%2Fu%2F12826399%2FSAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_x86.exe&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fandroidforums.com%2Ftransform-ultra-all-things-root%2F&title=%5BACS%5DRoot%20for%20Transform%20Ultra%20-%20Android%20Forums&txt=Drivers%20for%20Windows!&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_132105912189913

then this:
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
Odin CWM Recovery files posted by Hoark13

Then follow this:
Install CWM with Odin
1. Download and unzip HROARK_CWMv5026_SPH-M820.zip
2. Copy stick.zip to SD Card
3. Install the Samsung USB drivers (if you don't already have them)
4. From a powered off phone put phone into Download Mode by holding Volume Down, Camera Button, and Power button until the Yellow Downloading message appears
5. Plug phone into USB port
6. Open Odin, you should see a yellow box with a com number
7. Select HROARK_SPHM820.ops in the OPS box
8. Put a check in One Package
9. Select the HROARK_CWMv5_SPH-M820_Odin_1P.tar file in the One Package box
10. Click Start
11. When Odin says reset and the phone reboots Hold Vol UP, and Power button until you are in CWM DO THIS QUICKLY BEFORE PHONE BOOTS, IF PHONE BOOTS UP ALL THE WAY START BACK AT STEP 4. you do not have to wait for Odin to say pass, that does not work
12. In CWM go into install zip from sdcard
13. select choose zip from sdcard
14. select stick.zip
15. select Yes - Install stick.zip
16. After it is done installing Press back button
17. Select Reboot System Now

It all came from this thread if you wanna read..
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...od-v5-0-2-6-file-system-recovery-utility.html

When it is installed, you will know its CWM and the latest version all the text will have a blue theme and you will see version 5.0.2.6. If you have that, your golden.. ;):D

Now you would be ready to install
Hoark's CM7 Beta2.zip
HotfixB Beta2.zip and
gapps using the "install zip from sdcard" option in CWM recovery. (REBOOTING completely each time after one is installed)

Since this is a completely new port, does the phone do the double lock when calling? I tried to just take the "phone.apk" out and replace it but that doesn't work at all. Like everyone else says, thanks for all the hard work.

this thread is getting too long. instead of quoting what to do you should just post a link to the post that tells you how to do it.

with me when i make a call the phone locks itself and i have to double tap the screen. better than hitting the power button to unlock

Your right. Normally I would do just that but I just felt like a clear instruction post might help some of our new commers who aren't familiar with all our threads. It can be really confusing and Since this is the thread that's getting all the hits....
I would rather them get it right the first time rather then help them unbrick a phone... my intention was only to help simplify things a bit.

the phone lock is waaaay better with this port. I hated the double lock thing...

Just wanted to comment on thread length. CyanogenMod whether official or unofficial ROM port, tend to have the long thread effect. For example CM7 on the Motorola Triumph http://androidforums.com/triumph-al...ph-tickerguy-edition-kernel-mine-11-06-a.html (almost at 2900 posts).

Even their MIUI(a popular ROM derived from Cyanogen) http://androidforums.com/triumph-al...i-1-11-4-triumph-110911-3-gb-2-3-7-based.html at almost 1250 posts.

Basically this one is going to be long, but I totally understand your point. Though ShabbyMod is still king thread size wise in our forum.

This one definitely has it beat on post per day ratio... I'm sure that will begin to go down as this becomes "old news" though.

I know it's been mentioned before, but...does anyone know what causes the slow gps lock? I use an application (Buzztime's Playmaker app) that uses the GPS to determine your nearest Buzztime location bar. I have to shut GPS off in order to get it to connect. No big deal, just curious about the innards. :)

wheres cyanogenmod for the updated gb?

I am having a lot of problems trying to get it to work with the new 2.6.35.7 kernel

I have been fighting with it all weekend

I may have to continue to use the old kernel

I do kind of have to start from scratch and this stuff is not easy, and running compiles takes a long time

well we will se what happens

I dont want anyone asking for ETAs on this

Sir, you take your time on this and do it at whatever pace fits your life. It will be worth the wait. Cyanogen will eventually recognize your work as official I am sure, so take your time a make it the best it can be. You are obviously a talented and focused person with this stuff. Do what you want or say the hell with it if you want but I doubt that will happen. The body of work you have produced in a few shot months is incredible. Don't forget to eat and sleep.

I dont want anyone asking for ETAs on this

I don't want anyone asking for ETAs on anything, and I manage projects for a living.

"When will this be done?" means one of two things:

1. I'm going to lie to you, so you'll shut the hell up.

2. You're getting a rushed pile of shit.

Being a test engineer, I understand that. Rushed projects suck.

the 2 worst things for a Test Engineer:

1) Everyone treats me like a tester, not a test designer
2) Every time a project gets close to it's deadline, it's the same story: Everything is weeks/months behind, but if I don't figure out how to get it through months of testing in 2 weeks, it's my ass

Something i just noticed. I dont use gps all that often and when i do i use google nav, so i uninstalled telenav. A few days goes by and i try to use google nav, and my gps wont lock in. So i tried the gps fix and the other i read about here, and still long waits. But last night i turned it on and it was taking forever to lock again, and i remembered uninstalling telenav. I reinstalled telenav, and it locks again really fast. If anyone else is still having gps problems...try reinstalling telenav and see if it helps.

Aside from the sound known sound issues, im really diggin beta v2.

hroark13 take your time man. no need to stress out. but I will say this though, people have been complaining to me that when I send them a huge text or use a Smiley it would sent them a message of random stuff like this ex: @#&%('9930''?9(mmdlpobboa7+#*@%+"8.

is there something that I should do to fox that? I downloaded the hot fixes. I figured I would point that out to you. but other then that, thanks for everything though!!!
