basically with all the crap in googles new privacy policy i am going to buy my own domain and do my own email etc. i will not even be using market (i am going to see how amazon and getjar replace it) so can you do this with the gapps installer?

not sure if your questions are for me
the Rom has gapps preloaded, so I am not sure what you are asking
what is a bml ? do you block managment layer ?

yea i wasn't very clear in that, sorry. My question is, can you make the rom without gapps. so i can avoid google.
the bml work i was referencing was how you were able to pick up the ball for shabby and interd. I was a tester and did some documentation, and saw what great work you did. just wanted to throw props and kudos to ya

Thanks optimus!! this is huge! Don't know where you found that one.. I've been reading in the CM forums for a couple of months now.. Once again, you brought something crucial to this forum...
What is DM mode? Will this allow you to do the things required to use the Prevail as a donor phone? Like can you get info and all that using CDMA workshop? Some things just don't work on this phone. I have an old Droid Incredible I'd love to use for boost, but buying a donor phone just isn't an option..... The prevail is a nice started droid phone, but when your used to a much better phone, it's hard to use on a daily basis =[

its so u can update your PRL on cm7 now without having to switch back to stock gingerbread or ct mod

Here is the thread that explains one of the things DM can be used for . This link goes along w/ Monster's post about PRL's . DM can also be used for many other things related to CDMA . Give the thread a read and it will explain things a lil better for ya . I also turned up some good results by using BING and typing in " what is DM mode " . Check it out .

I think I've found an easier way to get your phone out of DM mode . Optimus , plz correct me if I'm wrong .
After you have written the PRL to your phone , just close CDMA and a prompt will appear . Select yes and your phone will reboot . According to the device manager , the computer is no longer reading my phone on a COM port . The phone should be out of DM mode and working properly . I just found this out and wanted to share it with you guys . LOL . The less typing I do on that lil ass keyboard , the better .

yes you are correct the system rewrites the default values back when you reboot.

This is strange . When my phone rebooted , it was showing the PRL that was written . I've rebooted twice now and it's reading default . WTH . Guess it won't work . SH*T !! LOL Guess I gotta type the last CMD in after all . I'm still gonna work on it for a few .

the usb composite diagnostic mode it should reset back to default "0" when you reboot from cdma workshop. i have not tested but the prl should stick.

Update : Ok , just to ease my tortured mind , I restored back to CTMOD , updated PRL to stock , restored back to CM7 , entered : " echo 0 > /sys/devices/virtual/usb_composite/diag/enable " in Terminal Emulator , ran CDMA and changed PRL to 11115 , closed CDMA and selected yes at the prompt . The phone rebooted and the PRL is holding . Don't know what happened the first time but if I can save myself some typing , I'm all for it . Ok , that's it for me on PRL's in this thread .

does kouma kernel work with cyanogenmod 7? i was messing around a little last night made a backup of my cyanogenmod 7 installed ctmod witch also installed kouma kernel. making a backup of ctmod and restoring back to cyanogenmod 7 my screen seems like it wont load past the cyanogenmod 7 screen on the boot

I had that same problem . Mine wouldn't get past the android screen. I had switched back to CTMOD did some stuff and when I tried to restore my backup of CM7 , it got stuck on the boot screen . I did everything from clearing the Dalvik cache to wiping data in CWM and it still wouldn't work
. I had to restore an earlier backup of CM7 and go from there . Hopefully you have one . I have since started making a couple of backups just in case one of them is corrupt . new optimus

I think I was explaining this before, this version of cwm, or perhaps all cwm do not back up a complete image, they only back up /system
/data /sdext etc. other versions of recovery on other phones also backup /boot and others.
So what happened is your cm7 backup was being applied over the kuma kernel and as been mentioned kuma kernal for ctmod isnt compatible with cm7

you by chance using a different kernel for ctmod then the kuma?

Nope , It's running the Kouma Kernel . It actually says Kouma Kernel before the bootani comes on when running my CTMOD backup . I've transferred between the two probably 7 or 8 times with just that 1 mishap . If I'm not mistaken , several others have done the same thing (restored a backup of CTMOD) with no Ill effects so the PRL could be changed . I'm glad you figured out a way around that . It sure saves some time and thx again for that .
