Root [Kernel][GB] KoumaKernel 2.5

Hey just a quick question :)

The one you posted called:

CWM Package
KoumaKernel 0.2b CWM flashable package

Is that the gingerbread stock ROOTED with CWM5 and KoumaKernel? I'm just curious cause I'm not entirely sure that it's the rooted version.

On the odin thread it only states:

  • DOWNLOAD EJ06 Gingerbread Stock Image made by Koumajutsu
So it doesn't come with CWM5 or rooted I guess.

Hopefully the one you posted on this thread is CW5, kernel, and rooted for gingerbread :) Please let me know!

My dhd.ko is slightly smaller than Optimus'

Other than that, probably cosmetic init.rc and default.prop changes.

If you're already running Optimus' there's no need to change really. I put this together as my own personal baseline to start from and thought I'd share

I guess that I did something wrong!
Im running Hroark everything! I flashed K Kernal beta 2 and it messed everything up. I couldn't even re-flash Hroark kernel and recover!
So, I had to go back to base ee14 and re build everything the way that I had it before I did this!
I don't know if i missed something in the directions. But, I finally got dt apps 2sd working again and I guess that I aint going to mess with the kernels anytime too soon! LOL!

soo if i odin to stock froyo, then let the update for gingerbread go through, then root gingerbread, then flash this kernel i should be able to use a ext4 partion, say with link2sd right from stock? (which is what i was waiting for), i mean cm7 is nice but too glitchy for me.

I created a partition with Hroarks cwm rev 3 and it supported ext4 when I was on Shabby mod and Hroarks kernel for dtapp2sd

ive come to like link2sd is all, if i can do what i said, then i can jump off cm7 till its a lil more stable, because i have alot of apps, so if i can update to stock gingerbread root it, install this kernel and be ale to have all my apps with link2sd i'll be happy till cm7 is good :D

To get this to read your ext 4 partition you need to update your kernel to either Kouma's or New Optimus' then you should be good to go with your ext partition

That's just the kernel, and it's Just for Froyo

If you want CW5, and rooted gingerbread, go get it from the odin thread and flash that first, then update the kernel after

Yup, I'm using A2SD, but the concept is the same. I would suggest formatting your ext partition first. The filesystem created when using Froyo might not be compatible with GB

it is.
At least if your using a ext4 partition for your sdext.

I did not even have to reinstall most of my apps that are on that partition.:D

I wasn't very confident that my apps on SD would run stable unless i installed them fresh. Glad to hear they worked for you

A few of them, such as wifi tether and tune in radio and swype beta would fc but most work perfectly.
If the information in the /data/data folder was on sd so that info was part of the app I believe they would all run perfect.

Thanks Kouma. One last thing does the gingerbread kernel have CIQ removed or do I have to run the script?

The kernel itself doesn't launch it.
However, iqmsd, and libiq_service.so are still in the filesystem since they are outside of the kernel space.
Also, framework-res.apk, framework.jar, and a bunch of other files all will launch it on their own.

We'll be stuck with these until Bloodawn has had enough time to make a CIQ remover for GB.

The placeholder is done for his mod though

Right now I have simple blue which is suppose to remove ciq. If I use this will the ciq come back on my phone or will it still be gone? Also what or how will this kernal improve my phone from the way it is now? I am running Odin root with hroarl13 kernal and shabby. 9 loaded with simple blue and a2sd. THANKS! !!

it will stay gone, so long as you use version 0.1
Besides that, it removes hotspot event monitoring, which is kind of like a CIQ for tethering.

version 0.2 puts CIQ back as a workaround for some people that ended up having bootloops when some apps tried to launch CIQ at startup after a factory reset but the service was not registered

Well damn I got impatient and did it right now just to come back and see your reply I did. 2 cause the bootloop problems had me worried. I don't understand what the kernal does? The phone seems the same as before. If I want to ditch this to get rid of the ciq then how do I uninstall this kernal?

EDIT: besides I like the ciq gone because after simple blue I think its the only thing that has ever given me the slightest improvement in battery life. Even the initial root and bloat removal didn't seem to do anything for my battery life.

Well, I'm still waiting for official results from M5 Industries, but preliminary testing says that running KoumaKernel makes you 40% cooler (+80% compared to an iPhone user).

I installed this kernel, and conneted to the bluetoothe on my car stereo.

When I woke up this morning my car tire was flat.

If I unistall your kernel, will my tire go back to normal?

HELP

Lmao. You guys are too much

it will make it more better if you uninstall it by using iTunes for xbox while logged into PSN on your 3DS.

The difference is subtle and won't necessarily affect battery life.
when coupled with a theme or mod that removed CIQ, it just finishes the job and possibly speeds up boot time slightly as time is not spent trying to register the CIQ service. It also removes the hotspot event monitoring, which saves some space (though I believe that part of flash is reserved so it's not like you gain it back someplace else, it just means that more functionality can be added to the kernel later :) ) Exactly what HEM did is unknown. It did appear to periodically check the DHD driver to see if it was running in a host mode (i.e. tethering)
