Root Odin (Return phone to Stock/Factory)

Sorry, i did not do a good job of explaining that. I ran the same ODIN to get GB. I also did not have CWM after I did it. I had what I suppose is the stock recovery. So, I had to ODIN in CWM5 and ruj stick. It worked for me.

ok, so from the instructions on page one of this post:
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...od-v5-0-2-6-file-system-recovery-utility.html

did you follow the "install cwm with odin" or "install CWM update" or "restore stock recovery" directions?
Thanks

I had the same problems. I think that a factory reset will fix most of these. But, that is not what I did. I uninstalled the Market update and then went to settomgs / applications / manage applications and cleared data for market.

Also from applications ALL I cleared data for Google Services Framework. Then I rebooted.
You may notice some quirks at first but it will straighten itself out.

Use ODIN to flash Hroark's CWM 5 and you will probably have to also quickly flash the Stick.zip using CWM so that it does not revert back to the stock recovery.

doing a factory reset fixed it thanks :)

I've tried downloading these twice (each), and both times the zip files that I received are unreadable (unable to open/extract/examine/move other than to delete) by my system. I was able to get both of the EE14 files without any errors, and will use those - just wanted to advise of & ask if anyone else is having this issue?

System: Windows VistaHP/32-bit (SP2) on a Dell Inspiron 1545, Pentium T4200@2GHz, 3GB RAM, 250GB HDD

Will this work on rooted phone, were update failed to install? Just tried to do the update and it said it failed to install, what next? thank you ahead of time for any help

try with a different web browser

Ive been trying to restore back to stock but keep having connectivity issues, well to be exact Odin does not recognize my device (no COM number shows after put into downloading mode) and have not managed to progress. I wanted to un-root so I can apply the GB update on my device.

2 things to look for, 1 did you install the samsung drivers?
and if you did plug your phone into the computer while its working first before putting it in download mode so your computer recognizes it.

2 is the cable the original samsung one? other brand cables will charge it but not data transfer.

To people who have done the EJ06 Gingerbread Rooted Image with CWM5 and not been able to get CWM5 when they go into recovery mode it says this:

Android system recovery <3e>
Samsung Recovery Utils
- for BML -

At bottom it says:
E:PATH /data/update_success R
E:Upgate logfile does not exist
#MANUAL MODE#

This is how I fixed it.
I went to this thread .. ClockWorkMod v5.0.2.6 for Samsung Prevail SPH-M820 by Hroark

Follow steps 1 - 11. Go into cwm mode before the phone full boots up. If the phone does than cwm wont take ( hold the vol up button and the power button ) Right after install the stick.zip than reboot it will work.
It took me a few trys. just be patient. Treat it like its a new install.

I also had the google auth error.
Right after I did the gingerbread update. I did a factory wipe and all was clear. I just took a 6 hour trip and everything is working awesome.

Just take your time....

Can someone assist me, I want to revert back to shabbymod from cm7 with a2sd....but when I do even after wipoing phone and SD it says I have no room on phone to install apps from market. I'm stuck using cm7 nice as it is itsmessing up my battery, I go through 100% charge in 2-3 hrs. And audio although nice it has major distortion when I close music or video players. And it leaves large programs running. Even after I close them... can I a2sd shabbymod? I like using the honey comb theme

You want to use odin to go back to stock ee14 or ee14 rooted then use your back up in cwm.

One thing cwm does not change the kernel version so running the new kernel with the old image does not work.

i need hep here i did everything that the instructions said and its giving me and error when i want to install an app from the market everything works fine it updates the preloaded apps but wont download any:(

I deleted backup ....... there's no way to go back?

this may help. it's my base for my personal rom.
so far this is a just a very slightly modified stock gingerbread rom.
system is deodexed, rooted, tweaked, a2sd enabled.
koumakernel and cwm5 preinstalled.
we can all thank Shabbypenguin, Koumajutsu and Hroark. a lot.
some of the build.prop tweaks that have been introduced are present already.
the only app i changed is the stock launcher. it broke when it deodexed so i replaced it with adw launcher.
a2sd is enabled by default so you can
1 format your sd before you flash it or
2 hold the vol up button as soon as 'Downloading...' disappears, enter cwm and partition your sd there (be sure to have a backup of anything you want to keep from the phone and/or the sd card before you do anything!)

it will take a few minutes to boot the first time but be patient, it always boots. i wiped /cache and /data just before i packed this so it rebuilds on boot and avoids errors like google auth. also adw launcher will force close one time on first boot. and then it's stable. let me know if there are any problems i haven't found yet.

Rooted Gingerbread with dta2sd, ClockworkMod-based recovery and Koumakernel .1

Is A2SD installed and working on it? You say that it's "enabled". I just want to verify what that means. Thanks!

So, can we call this YouKilledMyFatherPrepareToDieROM?

it's working and apps are linked by default. in fact it may bootloop if you don't have your sd card partitioned.

don't do a factory wipe if you have link2sd or a2sd installed already and your downloaded apps will reinstall automagically. ;)

your favorite root file explorer can remove the system bloat easily and you can make a nandroid backup in cwm right away to have a solid backup ready at all times.

So am i screwed here? i want to go back to Shabbymod with honeycomb theme----- i deleted back ---can i just re-istall them and use a2sd with shabby?

Finally was able to download the two EJ06 files - with a faster wi-fi connection. So, if anyone else is having problems getting those downloaded, my suggestion is to borrow a friend's internet, or go to a Coffee Bean (free wi-fi) :D, but avoid using wi-fi from a phone-tether (what I was initially working with). Thanks for trying to help, Koumajutsu

Dude, Optimus already told you. Go over to the first post in this thread, download the EE14 image you want to use. Flash that to your phone, then you can flash Shabbymod over again.

I know that, i did that... my problem is I can not install apps from market or anything,,,,,, says no space........everything else is fine just cant install anything which makes it pointless

That is very strange. almost like there is permissions errors. Have you done a factory reset? If so, the one from the settings menu or from recovery? I think the one from recovery is a bit better in terms of being an actual wipe. I'm not entirely sure though.

I do know that even at best, space is limited to enough for just a few apps unless you install a mod to put apps to a partitioned SD card
