Root [ROM][ACS] GB UNleashed 2point3 [GBU-3/20/11] " KING STYLE "

Uh oh! Sounds like Evo might be coming over to the dark side!

Yeah considering my battery life I may. Also whatever was buggy yesterday seems to have smoothed itself out...I'm impatient lol. I guess aosp is a bit more work but it may pay off in the long run...

Try this for the VVM: How-To Reinstall Your Sprint Visual VM under CM7!!! - xda-developers

As far as GPS, there is a fix but I don't have the link for it. If you search XDA for gps fix you should be able to find it. Someone here might have the link also.

Yeah, I tried doing that and it stopped the V30 error I believe but it still would not download the voicemails and what ended up happening was it had that "voicemail pending" stuck in the notification bar and in the voicemail app that wouldn't go away. It got really annoying. I'm hoping maybe the next version will fix it because aside from those two things I was really pleased but it sucks because they are necessities for me.

Still having GPS issue. Tried both methods to the exact detail- flash to sense, cleargps, restore aosp nanroid. Also the GPS status, A-GPS clear and re-download. Most of the time the nav stalls on 'waiting for location'. Rarely, It will load nav, but then won't follow my location, it just searches for gps signal.

Is my only option to re-download and flash GB again?

Haha it bit me. I still want a better theme though. Mostly just better status bar icons and icons in general. Though I can pull them myself...already change my boot animation, splash, and added a red swype keyboard.

After you did the GSPCLRX did you turn on GPS and let it lock in with as many satellites as possible before going back to AOSP?

Gps finally worked for me. I restored back to rooted stock rom cleared gps, rebooted let it lock, left it on, boot to recovery, wipe cache and dalvik then restore. Opened nav and it locked in a few seconds, then opened maps, locked repeatedly within seconds....the only diff was I let it lock after a clear and left it on

Good call, That is the only step i didn't do. Trying again now..

yeah i never let it get a lock before because i figured i was clearing data to get rid of the data it collected in sense, seemed counterintuitive to me to let it collect data again, im obviously wrong lol

GPS is good for me until I start driving. Also suddenly getting quite a bit of lag when multi tasking that popped up out of nowhete

I decided to try it again with that gps fix mentioned and somehow with wifi turned on I ended up in Mexico...lol

Ok So if I'm coming from a Sense rom to begin with. I should do this...

Nandroid backup (Sensre Rom)
Do standard GB install (including all clearing of datas)
Nandroid back up (GB)
Flash sense- ? A sense based rom
download GPS test from market
##clrgpsx# -? on your dialer...type that in
Phone will reboot
open GPS test and wait till 8-10 sats show up/20 Mister
restore your kings nandroid
Dload GPS test and open..ensure its working

That is, again, if I'm coming from a Sense rom to begin with correct?

Ok got this far but when I enter the ## number and hit call.. all I get is this number is busy please try again later........???? lol should I just keep trying

Are you on a sense rom? Which one? A couple don't have working epst. Also you don't dial it you just hit ## gpsclrx# it should bring up a menu before you dial

running kings ultra blackk R3..... this sounds weird.. I enter the ## like I was going to make a call and waited but no message or menu......

Good morning, everyone. In staying with the GPS trouble theme...

My issue was not that GPS wouldn't track at all, but that it would only update my location every 15-30 seconds, even after completeing "the fix". I have had this problem with pretty much every AOSP ROM I have used.

This ROM is quite fast on my phone, even with the stock kernal, but I can't get that GPS to update any more frequently. GPS works great on all the Sense ROM's,though.

Any ideas?

mbancroft, I followed the developer site and what Mr. Ed told me and I've resolved my GPS issue. When i tried entering ##clrgpsx#, nothing happened. Try using a stock rom, which found here and follow these directions exactly:

[ROM] RUU SuperSonic EvO 3.70.651.1 OTA - Stock - Sense - Deodexed & Odexed Version - xda-developers

Wipe all (caulk format all works perfect)
Install a sense Rom
Set up phone, make sure gps is on
Download MSL Reader from market and remember code for later
With dialer dial ##4772579#
Use msl code
Phone will reboot
Make sure gps is still on. GO OUTSIDE AND WAIT UNTIL IT FINDS 5-10 GPS SATS (5 minutes)
reboot into recovery
Wiped cache and dalvik
Restore nandroid of aosp Rom
Your set

Okay, well, I guess it's my turn to ask a question. I've been using this ROM now for about a week or so, and twice now I've ended up with google services holding a wake lock. Under normal circumstances, everything is fine, with only the normal minimal wake locks. Then, out of the blue (with the phone having been on for a while), google services started holding a wake lock. I think I narrowed it down to the market (just opening it, not even downloading/installing), as I opened it last night, and the total wake lock time matched about how long it had been since I opened it. It seemed to do the same thing the first time, as well. I was able to clear it the first time a few days ago by wiping cache/dalvik in recovery. Just rebooting didn't seem to help much. This time around, I'm trying to actually get to the bottom off the issue. I've tried clearing cache for the market and force stopping it, but that didn't help much. Has anyone else had this happen? I can't seem to find much information on it.

EDIT: Using savaged-zen 1.0.1, btw. Now that I'm looking at some posts for that thread on xda over the past day or so, it looks like others have had issues with it. I'll try some other kernels/versions.

Yup......those would be the directions typed out a while back.

I believe it was a kings ultra rom that my epst did not work on. You can probably dl a diff epst, I have seen one out there that it supposed to work, it was in the prl thread on xda...

Or just use any other sense rom basically

Look at me, regular gingerbread kid, all up on the bandwagon with you guys :). Hello darkside.

Im using SZ 1.0.1 also. Been getting good battery life so i havent been looking for that sort of stuff. Usually only check for wake locks if im getting worse battery life than i should be. I'll keep an eye out though. Let me know if you find a solution in the meantime as i am using the same rom and kernel.

My current partial wake on google services is 8s but i just unplugged an hour ago.

Yeah, that seems about what it should be. It's hard to pinpoint since it basically covers so many things. I flashed SZ 1.0.0, so I'll see how that goes. Normally, I wouldn't blame a kernel for wake locks, but I checked a lot of other things, and I read that other people were complaining about it too, so I guess it can't hurt to try something else.

just checked again, google services is the highest on the partial wake now, its up to 2m 29s after 2.5 hours...im not sure what all it covers but i dont even have data turned on since im at work, nor have i really done anything but send 3 texts. Im not super worried about 2m in 2.5 hours but i'l definitely monitor it.
