Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

just something random in gingerbread that i found out last night called the "easter egg." if you go into setting ---> about phone, and press your android version like crazy... just keep pressing it rapidly. eventually you'll see what they call the "easter egg" of gingerbread.

Looks like another one when you tap on Mod version :)

good call.... but technically that's not one of the "easter eggs" that Google hid in the framework. That is a cm7 design "easter egg" that team cm7 hid in their framework. but i didn't know about it so cheers and good eye man! thanks for the info.

I can confirm that large messages, both incoming and outgoing, get broken up into smaller SMS messages, whereas stock froyo would keep them as a single MMS. Is this capability in the pipeline? I saw it mentioned a few pages ago but haven't heard about it since. It's also possible I just haven't found an option to turn that function on. I've also attempted a single picture message which failed, but I only tried once so it could have been the recipients fault or even just poor signal at the time, just thought I should mention that as well.

I too have had random reboots. Just sitting on my desk, nothing happening, it reboots.

My battery life has drastically improved over stock, maybe by a factor of three. The only time I had a problem was when AirAttack HD semi-crashed and started sucking my battery down to 10% in a matter of two hours. But that was on the last alpha version, haven't tried that again since the Beta.

I finally been able to reproduce a reboot. it happens during downloads, the only way I was able to reproduce it was to download ttorrent and download several large files downloading at once, then going online and playing around here or facebook, basically just surfing the net. it reboots in 3g the only problem is sometimes it takes an hour or so, however it did happen the first time I tried to type This and it was in about ten minutes of having the torrent client open, but my phone had been on all night. so, my guess is, it is a memory leak issue. by the way, reproduced only 7 out of 12 trys and this last accidental one as well

Is there any way I can use the apps like contacts, launcher, camera and camcorder, note pad, video portal, the sharp widgets from Andro-ID rom on CM7? I love the apps and widgets in the rom but as some of you may the rom wasn't meant for the Triumph so no 3g and the keys are wrong.

Anyone using LWP? it seems that this is causing mine to drop to 1x, along with what I said earlier when I was playing the game, it just did the same thing, pnly I had just set a LWP

Turn on gmail sync in the phone settings.

Settings > Accounts & Sync > you@gmail.com > Sync Gmail
Thanks for the tip. My gmail sync is ON as shown in the Data&Synchronzation setting menu. But then I just realized that you could go down one more level when click on it. The sub-menu shows different Google services like Sync Doc, Sync Google+, Sync Contacts, Sync Picasa and Sync Gmail etc. Apparently everything is ON except Sync Gmail. Now everything is working! Love the ROM!!

I have no idea. I would not expect the camera to work properly. The others might; do a Nandroid first, replace the files in question and if it blows up restore.

Okay I will. So do I just add them and take out the stock CM7 launcher?

EDIT: Did that now I'm stuck at the CM7 boot logo.

Happened a few times now. If I recieve a call and try to answer it. Screen goes instant black, vibrates once or twice, and no sound or anything appears to be there even though when the screen comes back on I had been talking for a good 25seconds. After that if I try and call back, I get no sound and the person also hears nothing out of my phone.

A reboot fixes this, until it happens again. Lately twice a day.

Not sure how to reproduce this, it just appears to be very random, and I have also been getting reboots on texts coming in and mostly on MMS's that come in to my phone as well.

=/

I've been lurking on this thread about a month now and decided it was time to give Tickerguy's CM7 a try. I have a bunch of questions which are probably pretty simple.
When I installed it, I first got clockwork 5.0.23 and made a nandroid and titanium backup, I then did a data/factory wipe, wipe cache partition, wipe Dalvik cache, and wipe battery stats. I loaded the the beta ROM and then Gapps on top of it and rebooted. To get my apps and settings on the new load I did a nandroid restore in advanced settings for data only. That seemed to do the trick but it made me nervous because I haven't read anything here where you guys recommend doing that. So I started from scratch with the same steps above and recovered my apps and selected data like my contacts, call log, text messages, etc. with Titanium instead, It took a little longer but I think I have everything in order pretty well now. If you guys have any comments on my process thus far please let me know. I am curious if the nandroid data restore mentioned above is a bad idea or not.

So here is what I've noticed so far, which are mostly small details:
1.) No matter what I do, I can't seem to get my log of previous text messages restored from my stock rom. Not a big deal, just wondering if anyone knows a fix.

2.) In the stock rom, Navigation has a an option right at the top of the start screen entitled "speak destination" which lets you say a business or address which it then finds for you and sets a route for. In the CM7 load for some reason, after downloading it from market, navigation does not have this option, It won't even let me use the mic button on my Swype keyboard when I select "type destination". Does anyone know anything about this?

3.) I went into CPU settings and set the governor to SmartassV2 no problem, but when I try to set "Min CPU frequency" all I get is a pop up box with that title and a cancel button! I can't do any thing except hit cancel. What's up with that? It seems like this mod really sucks some juice without that 122 minimum set in place.

4.) And finally, I am having an intermittent reboot issue sometimes when I go into settings to tweak things. what happens when it does happen is I will hit the settings icon and a blank screen or a frozen starting menu appears and a few seconds later the reboot starts. Anyone have this problem?

Anyway i'm just starting, hands on with this mod so I'm guessing a lot of this is just a lack of knowledge, but I haven't found anything in the thread about this stuff so any advice would appreciated.
Thank you for this great ROM Tickerguy! My qaudrant score hovers around 2400 just like you said!

Noticed a small couple bugs.

1. Wifi won't stay on when the device goes to sleep, even when it's selected to.

2. Go into camera and switch to the front cam. Then hit menu (to exit out of it). Use your fave app to turn on the back torch (I just use flashlight) then go back into camera. The camera view goes mad

Also, I noticed that you can't install an outside kernel over the default for this. Doing so leaves the M logo up and nothing happens.

On Netflix, I get sound, but no video

The current version on the Market does not play audio with ANY CM7 ROMS according to numerous sources.

The version of Netflix right before the current update works perfectly.
After I updated my Netflix app yesterday I noticed there was no audio.
Luckily, I uninstalled the app and restored the previous version (1.4) with Titanium Backup.

I would suggest installing a version of Netflix PRIOR to 1.5 such as 1.4 which still works flawlessly for me with CM7. Or check to see if the next update to come is CM7 compatible. Something with the 1.5 version doesn't play well with Cyanogenmod.

Disclaimer: I am sure my experience WILL not be identical for everyone trying the following. This is mainly directed to anyone that still see some of the issues pointed out below after a soft update from previous releases.

For the many issues I see posted here, like data drop, random reboots from wake, slow app drawer, force close on market,.. all you may need to do is the following:
  • First, make a full backup of your system (using Nandroid or whatever app works like it) and sync your app to something like Appbrain market this wil help get back your apps in a blink.
  • Then, boot in clockword recovery, wipe system/data, dalvik cache, battery stat and also remove "useless" application folders on sd card.
  • Lastly, reinstall the update and flash the necessary apps as directed on the the first page. I personally do not advise restoring apps from backup.
Since I did this, my phone feels unbelievably faster and bug free, so far: average 2800 on quadrant (ondemand w/o overclock), no random reboots, no data drop, fast wake & transitions.. just excellent stuff! Today, 12 hours on since last charge and 36% remaining with 4 background applications running. :)

Is there a way to set a startup sound? On stock I had the ominous "DROID" sound and thought it was pretty cool, but I've tried two different ways I've found elsewhere to get a boot sound, neither of them worked. I got the default "android" logo boot image very easily, but how about sound? Anybody know? :)

The wifi issue had been adressed that it will always go to sleep when screen goes off to avoid the phone locking up, also the only kernel you can flash is the kernel from isaacs build but it is said that it could mess up some things on this rom like 3g dropping.
