Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

So I started from scratch with the same steps above and recovered my apps and selected data like my contacts, call log, text messages, etc. with Titanium instead, It took a little longer but I think I have everything in order pretty well now. If you guys have any comments on my process thus far please let me know. I am curious if the nandroid data restore mentioned above is a bad idea or not.

So here is what I've noticed so far, which are mostly small details:
1.) No matter what I do, I can't seem to get my log of previous text messages restored from my stock rom. Not a big deal, just wondering if anyone knows a fix.

2.) In the stock rom, Navigation has a an option right at the top of the start screen entitled "speak destination" which lets you say a business or address which it then finds for you and sets a route for. In the CM7 load for some reason, after downloading it from market, navigation does not have this option, It won't even let me use the mic button on my Swype keyboard when I select "type destination". Does anyone know anything about this?

3.) I went into CPU settings and set the governor to SmartassV2 no problem, but when I try to set "Min CPU frequency" all I get is a pop up box with that title and a cancel button! I can't do any thing except hit cancel. What's up with that? It seems like this mod really sucks some juice without that 122 minimum set in place.

4.) And finally, I am having an intermittent reboot issue sometimes when I go into settings to tweak things. what happens when it does happen is I will hit the settings icon and a blank screen or a frozen starting menu appears and a few seconds later the reboot starts. Anyone have this problem?

Anyway i'm just starting, hands on with this mod so I'm guessing a lot of this is just a lack of knowledge, but I haven't found anything in the thread about this stuff so any advice would appreciated.

sorry i couldnt be of better help but downloading google voice from the market WILL fix your second issue.

The version of Netflix right before the current update works perfectly.
After I updated my Netflix app yesterday I noticed there was no audio.
Luckily, I uninstalled the app and restored the previous version (1.4) with Titanium Backup.

I would suggest installing a version of Netflix PRIOR to 1.5 such as 1.4 which still works flawlessly for me with CM7. Or check to see if the next update to come is CM7 compatible. Something with the 1.5 version doesn't play well with Cyanogenmod.

yeah tickerguy said it would be a good idea to update it over the previous build. here is a post about gapps.zip. but yeah just install over. apparently i cant find the original info of the build being wiped but it will need to be reinstaled after formating /system and installing beta build.

I just had a question, do I have to flash GAPPs again after flashing the latest 10/16 update? I had already flashed it from the last 10/12 update. Thanks.

TickerGuy:You shouldn't have to, provided you were on the current GAAPS version (in the top post) and do NOT clear /system.

#3 you need to use cpumaster or setcpu

#1 next time, before you delete every thing, use sms backup and restore(I'm not sure for this time)
 
OK I already have google voice brought over from stock with titanium backup and it is up to date. Are there any settings in voice or navigation that might make the "speak destination" option appear?
 
Got a reproducible bug. Can't find it anywhere else on this forum so forgive me if it's known:
Every time I have an unread text message and lock the screen, it won't unlock. It self-rebooted a few times, others I had to do a battery pull.
It happened after I tried to change the LED notification color from the default amber to green.
 
Also another thing.

When setting under CM7 Settings to change the LED light. I changed messaging back to green, but it will no flash at all upon getting a text. If I reset everything, it'll flash that amber color.

Just curious what happened.
 
Just ran into an issue here and thought I'd see if anyone has experienced this and may have a work around. By necessity, I know Tickerguy had to make the wifi sleep when the screen is off. I use GrooveIP to make voip calls with my Google voice number and have done so starting back in my Optimus V days. Where I work inside has near zero cellular signal so I've always used GrooveIP to make my calls over wifi. So, on my Triumph, when I go to make a call with GrooveIP over wireless, I dial and initialize the call, but at soon as I put the phone to my ear, the screen goes blank...so the wireless turns off and GrooveIP signs out. lol So my question is, has anyone found a work around for this? Something as simple as forcing the screen to stay on so wifi stays connected? I have poked around and cant seem to find a setting combination within the phone settings or within GrooveIP that will do this.

The current (kernel) code has no ability to do that as the notification LED is a red/green only and there is no PWM support in the kernel for it (and thus none in CM7 either, as it's turned off.)

So if you try to set it to anything except the defaults you get nothing, as the defaults map to the correct colors, but anything else doesn't map at all.

I added PWM support for the keypad backlight to the kernel; I can do the same thing with the notification LEDs but doing so while keeping the "flashing" capability is a bit more complicated. Without a true RGB emitter for the notification LED what CM7 is doing doesn't make a whole lot of sense; I'd have to also play with the lights.so module in order to make the mapping be reasonably intelligent. It's not impossible but I wouldn't call it a high priority; one thing to keep in mind is that there are interactions here between the charge-state monitor and the operating environment which are a bit non-obvious and tampering with this may not exactly work out the way people would expect.

The Wifi sleep thing is going to bite you any time the phone sleeps the screen. That ties to the prox sensor, unfortunately, and will interfere with Wifi calling. I don't have a solution for this right now and won't until and unless I figure out why the Wifi code has problems with the wakelocks. In theory 3rd party "wifi calling apps" should have an option to use (or not) the prox sensor but it appears that most do not.

I saw a posr earlier about a guy wit the same problem using skype, what you need to do is set the screen to never time out, then after you make the call, get back to the home screen or any desktop screen and your call should still be taking place in the background,

Where is the setting to make the screen NOT time out? I can only find a setting to make it 30 minutes max. I've also heard of a setting to keep screen on when plugged in, but can't find that one either.

Oh snap i hadnt even notice that the regular settings dont have a never time out option, just download quick settings and turn off screen timeout.

My workaround is fairly simple, but it may not work for you because it will tie you to a charger to make those calls.

Anyway, back when the wifi lock was noticed, we also found out that it would not lock up the phone if it was charging...so I set a tasker profile to kill wifi when the screen was off and not plugged in. I also set one to turn it on when it was plugged in.

Ticker's workaround for wifi locks changed a setting in /system/etc/firmware/wlan that I just change back after flashing each build:

So in short, I change that wlan setting back, use the tasker profiles and turn my screen off to make GrooveIP & Viber calls while I'm plugged in.

The tasker profiles are easy to set up, but I've attached them here for anyone who wants them.

I'm glad to see that the screen wake issue has been fixed. I do have one minor issue though, that wifi does not stay on after waking the phone. I noticed it was fixed with isaccs last build? Thanks guys, I super appreciate your work!
 
FWIW I had much better results with the beta flashing it after I did a factory reset/wipe. It seemed to solve the issue of the screen not coming back on as well as a few other bugs.

The first time I tried the beta out I flashed it right over the last alpha and it was pretty much unusable for me

There's an option in the settings screen of the Messaging app.

Not necessarily, I think that Gapps for the most part only includes the most basic Google tools. Gapps main goal is to get you Market access where you can then download whatever tools you want... ;)

And to TickerGuy, I apologize for any off topic posts or replies in this thread. I know this isn't directly related to your CM7 port - but when someone asks a basic question like this I can't help but... help. :D
