First, do a full wipe. Not only Cache...

Second, you should bump your overclock and your Governor.

If fix permissions does not work, try this:

Download the bumblebee wiper: update_wiper_1.3.zip
Check MD5 sums for BACKside and Update Wiper!

Warning! This will wipe all of your settings on your phone!

Backup apps with Titanium Backup
Boot to recovery
1: Create backup (don't forget!!!)
2: Wipe - cache partition.
3: Wipe - dalvik cache
4: Wipe - data/factory reset
5: Format - boot > system > data > cache
6: Flash - update_wiper_1.3.zip
7: Flash - BACKside


If you're still having issues with missed calls/texts and screwy 3G, follow the same steps again as above and try a different rom. I recommend Leslie Ann's Harmonia (GB IHO). It's extremely stable and everything works really smooth.

It makes sure that all the permissions are set correctly. It should be done after the installation of any rom, but not always needed/necessary, but it never hurts to do it.
 
The dev is no longer supporting his work. Not for at least 6 months now. Someone found a old download link that works. It is in the All Things Root Guide sticky.

That very well may be, but I still don't feel comfortable offering up someone elses work without their permission or unless I specifically know that they don't mind. You can if you wish, but for me personally, I won't.
 
He made his utility to be used with the V. Just because he no longer updates/supports his work doesn't mean we should quite using his utility.
There are quite a few direct download utilities now, because the dev of it, stepped away. Look for the Dev site for the flash_image, or some of the old recovery's for the V? The only problem with a direct download link is there is no info to go with it, and you don't know if someone has monkey'd with it.
I made sure the Download link had a good working/non corrupted download. Tested it out on my phone first before putting it in the ATR Guide sticky. I've been using that downloaded zip since and that was over 5 months ago I think.

Now, Leslie Ann has made a wiper zip (two versions) that is also in the ATR Guide so members have a choice.

I never said we should stop using it (never hinted at such a thing). I merely stated for me, I will respect his legal copyrights due to the fact that I have no idea if he allows others to offer his work for download. Which is why I asked someone to link to LeslieAnns post where she offers hers.

As long as people get what they need, it's all good. I just personally will not offer someone else's work for download without their expressed permission.
 
NoNameFace: Didn't mean for you to think I was implying that you said anything. I was just adding to the conversation some important fact's.
His work was offered free. In as much as he no longer has a thread to be thanked for his work, he can no longer be thanked. This means we can use an old direct download link (as it was offered free) if no other link can be found to a thread that will allow us to thank him.

The reason we stress linking to a dev's site is so they can get the only reward they usually get for there hard work: hitting the thanks button.
There is no longer a thread to thank obijohn in, or download his ROM and utility from, so a direct download link is all that is left.
If you notice in the ATR Guide sticky I still gave him due recognition for his work, which is more than the dev's of the flash_image and some of the older recovery's get.
 
I understand all that Andy. But we're both talking about two different things here. I'm referring to his legal copyright and weather or not I personally have the right to offer his stuff for download. Not weather or not I have the right to link to where it's being offered for download.

I think I told you once in a PM that for 10+ years I owned and maintained a web hosting company. What I didn't mention was the type of clients I had. All graphic artists, so I am extremely familiar (a lot more than most here on these forums, including staff) with copyright laws, and this is why I am so anal about it. You can do what you wish with someone else's work. But that does not mean that I will. Linking to something where you know the copyright holder has offered it before is fine. But I personally refuse to upload it to a post here from my own computer and offer it up for download. I don't have the legal right to do that unless I have expressed permission from the copyright holder.

I hope that I clarified that now, and that we can drop this.
 
@NoNameFace and AndyOpie150, I think we are having a little misunderstanding here. I believe what Andy is trying to explain is that because the megaupload link in obijohn's XDA thread is dead another member found the file on mediafire and provided the link that is now in the ATR Sticky. I don't think anyone is suggesting that someone here uploaded themselves. As a graphic designer myself, NoNameFace I thoroughly understand the copyright laws in respect to intellectual property and I appreciate your diligence and passion on this issue. It might be that the author himself posted the file there when megaupload went offline. We simply don't know.

I have reached out to obijohn and asked if he has an objection to the file being shared. He's not been active here in a while, but he was around XDA last month so I am hoping for a quick response. When I hear back I will take the appropriate action. If I don't hear back, I am going to suggest the link be suspended until we know. We really do respect copyrights here as best we can.

Now back to yuor regularly scheduled programming :) (The topic ... anybody remember that? ;) )
 
A misunderstanding again I think. I don't have an issue with linking to the download. I merely stated that me personally (me myself and I), will not take the wiper and redistribute it. In other words: Yes, I have the wiper on my phone and backed up om my PC. I will not take it from neither my phone or my PC and upload it somewhere (here or somewhere else) and offer it for download because I have no idea if I'm allowed to do that . Had I known about another link for his wiper, I would of linked it in my post. But since I did not, I requested one for Leslie Ann's.

Because I (me myself and I, not anyone else here) did not wish to infringe on someone else's copyright by redistributing someone elses work, a huge misunderstanding has taken place (one from which I got a nasty PM) and I deeply apologize for it.
 
I am the one that should be apologizing to you. I do sincerely apologize for all of this misunderstanding and for what you thought was a nasty PM? My intentions was to just present the fact's and reason on them. Sorry! I was in no way shape or form trying to say you did anything wrong. I was just trying to show the other side of the equation.

Same here. I hope it is nothing worse than a case of too much to do and not enough time. Fortunately, the 05022012 rom is working flawlessly. Jerry did a great job on it, and it ought to be good for quite a while.

I think Ron's hit the nail on the head. Maybe in this case no news is good news. What ever the case...we miss you Jerry!
