I'm using what I think is the latest CM7. GPS doesnt work but I found a fix at the XDA site:

GPS fix: Flash into a sense rom, download MSL reader from the market, input ##GPSCLRX# into the dialer, reboot, reflash into CM7

I got to the point where I downloaded MSL Reader but not only did it completely freeze up but there's no option to enter anything. Any advice?

Also...
I've been flashing ROMS and kernels for me and my friends. Always pretty successful. The thing is I have no idea how any of this works. Is there some way to learn the inner workings so I could some time in the future actually develop my own ROMS or apps?

Where are you exactly?

Flash to a sense rom, dl msl reader, run it, it will give you your msl (6 digit number), open dialer, enter ##gpsclrx#, menu will pop up asking for password, enter your msl, it will reboot, let it boot up and let gps get a good lock for a few minutes, go to recovery, wipe cache, wipe, dalvik, restore cm7 backup...

I dont follow what went wrong for you here...you got it to unfreeze and then tried again and it does nothing? What sense rom did you go to? I have crossed a sense rom or two where the epst didnt work...try a different sense rom.

I think I may have misunderstood the instructions. I litteraly go into the phone dialer and enter the code??

yes literally get ready to call ##gpsclrx# except after you hit that last # it should open a menu dont actually have to hit dial

I dont have to wipe date this time?

Also If I've been flashing roms and kernels for a while for me and some friends with almost no problem. The problem is I have no clue about how this works. Is there some way to learn the inner workings to possibly develop my own ROMS and apps some day?

wipe data in between what? are you restoring a back up or flashing a rom? if restoring the answer is no, if flashing the answer is yes.

developer.android.com, source.android.com, check those out to get you started developing, you'll spend the next couple months reading and grabbing the proper software and stuff before you develop anything i imagine...

there are a ton of places to look...those sites are the beginning like dev guide tab/what is android is a good start lol.

Whats the best kernel to use to get stellar battery life on CM7?

That is going to vary by phone. Depends on what you mean by stellar also. CM7 has CPU settings built in but no option for profiles. I am using Tiamat 3.3.7 on Kings GB R2 which is CM7 based with good battery life on moderate use. Some have good luck with Savaged-Zen kernels though those do not play well with my phone. Make a nandroid and try them out for a couple days. If you have issues, try another.

Is it bad that I've stopped answering that question? There are only 200 threads dedicated to it.

yes. kernels are specific to either sense or aosp. tiamat is aosp kernel. and by the way it is a great kernel. i am getting the best battery life on kings gb cm7 rom.

dear all, im newbie here i wanna ask why there's no market on Custom Rom Myn's Warm Z and CynogenMod 7?

I am not sure about Myn's Warm Z, but CM7 is an AOSP rom and you would need to flash the Gapps zip file that is available with the rom download to get the Google Apps.
