Root ROOTING For Dummies

is it saying that during the install or are you trying to wipe cache? an hour? something is wrong if it just wiping you are doing.

The wipes of cache and dalvik cache went fine...did that 3 times before I started the install. The install is into the second hour by now....is that normal?

it did take awhile for it to load. not sure of that long. as long as you see the green arrow icon then just set it down and walk away until it is done.

Yep, the green arrow icon (actually 3 arrows) over the picture of the phone in the center of the screen is there. Ok, so waiting...

Ok, the more I've read online about people installing new radios has me a little concerned that something is not right with my install.

I powered off the phone, then powered back on into amon ra. I wiped cache and dalvik cache, then chose the file (EVO_Radio_2.15.00.05.02_WiMAX_27243_PRI_NV_2.15_003.zip) and selected "flash zip from sd card."

The unzip occurred, then the prompt to restart, then it went to the screen you see in the attachment and has been there for over 3 hours.

Although I had a full battery, I'm afraid the phone is stuck and the battery will die while I wait.

I'll continue to wait, however what are my options here if the phone is stuck?

Thanks for your help!

ok you said the unzipped finished and then asked you to restart? it does seem odd for it to take that long.

yeah that is right. i thought you said that it asks for you to restart which i thought was weird.

man i hate to tell you to pull the battery out while it is still in progress. not sure what else to tell you. maybe plug the phone in the wall and hope that it will finish soon.

Ok, I've plugged it into the wall, but got no charging light. Hopefully it won't die on me. If it's still on (and stuck) in the morning, I guess I'll have to pull the battery. And if that does come to pass, then what? Try it again? Should I restore the nand backup before I do?

I'm no radio expert (hell, I can't remember the last time I flashed a radio, in fact, I may not have)... but I'd guess if you're at Formatting cache, then the hard part is over (the possible bricking.), but I really don't know.

Man, I tried DLing the radio today, but the dl failed. Hearing radio troubles make me very very nervous.

if you can go to recovery thenyes do a nandroid restore.

Well, I was looking at that web page again, and I figured I might have missed the status bar part. So I think my screen may have been where it was supposed to have been.

I pressed power to reboot...it's rebooting now. I'll check radios in a sec.

ok good you had me worried. please let us know how it goes.

Ok, rebooted successfully!

baseband version is 2.15.00.05.02 PRI is 2.15_003

I apologize for keeping you engaged with a problem that didn't exist. I was a bit paranoid.

Is baseband and PRI all I need to check?
