[Verizon] [rom]jbsourcery v5.4-lte[06/07/13] jb4.2.2 The Final Call

I'm at a toss up between eagle #2 (sourcery) and leanKernel (latest exp 5.7, i believe).

BTW, 4.2.2, as far as I can tell is a hoax. Over at Rootz they locked the thread.

The maximus gapps have more inverted, I havent loaded the minimus version so cant tell which apps are vs arent inverted :)

I know that it has pandora inverted, as I use it often...

Okay, so the maximus has inverted gapps plus some other 3rd party apps? And minimus just has inverted gapps?

i finally took the plunge to android 4.2 via sorcery 4.3 and i loved it until some bad stuff came up...

first i couldn't get a gps lock. a good old ratheon reset fixed it though (reboot)
2nd i noticed my screen kept on waking every 5 mins. i booted into safe mode and the issue went away, so it is one of my apps not liking android 4.2. i tried closing apps one at a time but the issue continued.
i had another issue, but the screen waking upset me so, i forgot. :P

i reverted back to sorcery 3.1 until i get more time to troubleshoot. any helpful tips on troubleshooting the screen waking up would be appreciated.

I swear the change log for Jelly Belly version 11.2 or 12.0 had 4.2.2 on the change log. Just checked and it's not listed... Maybe I'm going crazy :)

I'll try the black majik theme next.

Okay, before anyone gets too upset about this new thread, don't worry, later tonight (16th) I'll ask it to be merged into the main thread, but I just HAD to tell folks about this new experimental sourcery rom that will likely become the next release really soon.

The entire experience feels zippy to me.... tight and clean, which is different for me. Usually when a lot of stuff is added it tends to be at the cost of performance. Not this rom. It screams.

Gadgets. Lots and lots of new toy gadgets! Let me list a few:

Options to:
1) rotating lockscreen carousel!
2) t-mobile theme engine
3) Of course, there are sourcery themes
4) Tablet UI mode
5) Settings control dual panel
6) volume panel (not new)
7) show ime switcher (that's not new)
8) lockscreen weather, calendar time, changable weather and icons
9) torch, nav bar toggle, screenshot, airplane mode options all on power menu
10) swipe between notification bar and power widget bar (waaay cool)
11) longpress to unlock lockscreen
12) see through to app behind lockscreen
13) custom kernel that just rocks. Set at 1200 it's ziptastic!

There's just so much more and I'm too tired to continue, but I wanted to put this up because it add significant experience level to our phone. I recommend it highly. Also, guys, the dev worked hard and sleepless nights on this one. Reward him and his team, k? He deserves it.

***This version is only avaialble if you installed the patch for 4.3. After installation, you'll find the rom download in the experimental section of the toolbox that comes with the rom****

Steven

BTW, I usually hate kernels that come with roms, but this is a keeper. Love it.

Oh great... NEW Gapps! I just flashed the 121212's with this!

So what now? just re-flash the ROM and the new Gapps?

EDIT: Oh, I see that the INVERTED Gapps were updated, but not standard Gapps. WHEW!

Those are the right ones if you are not using Maximus and minimus ones. It was the inverted ones that got updated for this build.

Still in the process of backing up...I need an app to ready myself for new ROMs.

Any app developers want to tackle this? The app's core functions would do the following:

  1. Check for and install app updates from Google Play
  2. Run Titanium Backup > Backup all user apps and system data
  3. Check for, download, and install latest TWRP recovery
  4. Reboot into recovery
  5. Set appropriate backup name and run backup
  6. Boot into system with notification showing the above has been successfully completed

Okay...so I know I'm dreaming...but wouldn't it be nice? :D
