yes i had to flash the 4.0.2 stock image to get my phone back, its insane

In light of recent events, it may be wise to add one more step to the list of "to do's" for those flashing these roms...save Nandroid backup to PC for safe keeping.

imo it was a big mistake to go from the stock 2.1 build to all the custom stuff suddenly dumped into the 3.0 build. introduce too much nonsense + beta build = disaster...
I wiped data/cache, dalvik, and flashed the jd 2.1 with the wifi fix right after. No hang time at the google logo, but I did have to wait like 5-10 mins on the boot animation.
Very awesome new animations. The stock launcher and app drawer are now flawlessly fast. In an interesting choice, it looks like they decided to reverse the performance priority between wallpapers and the launcher from what it was in ICS. In 4.0, stock LWPs ran at full speed but the launcher would become sluggish. In 4.1, the LWPs can at times run pretty sluggish, but the launcher is always full speed. I wholeheartedly agree with this change.
Ironically, the new features are the only things that lag. Understandable, considering that they're still a WIP while the rest of the Android OS has had forever to get polished.
Has anyone been able to figure out the different ways to use the voice actions?
- I've found that I can set an alarm in 50 different ways, and directions are a breeze in natural language.
- Asking for a note still sends an email of the message to my own inbox, which always seemed like a lazy implementation to me (just make a stupid notepad/reminder widget Google).
- Reminders are handled by setting labeled alarms. Cool but I'm hoping that someone can tie this into a reminders app like in iOS.
- Sending texts and voice dialing are still hit or miss for me.
- If I tell it to play me a Soundgarden song, it loads up a random track with the rest on shuffle (about 60% of the time). Very cool.
Has anyone else found any cool new productivity/assistant style voice commands? I really wish that I could get it to set calendar events by voice, and a native reminder app would be sweet. What have you guys found?

I read that source code should drop within a week. Then the devs will be able to do some work.

So which one is everyone looking at once it really gets stable? Cyanogen? I'm new to this.
Edit: I see in the poll that Liquid and AOKP are the two most popular here. I guess they'll probably have a timeframe once the full source code is released in a few days?

Sorry some of you have had what seem to be major issues. I've had none at all. Before I post leaks like this here (I'm just a measly messenger) I like to flash and run then restore backups the re-flash and run again to make sure all is well on my end so people run into as few issues as possible.
To clarify, when I mention "complete wipe" or "wipe fully" it includes formatting system. I don't know if some know this. Also I exclusively use CWM touch recovery so that might be a factor as well.

I agree and have stuck with v2.1. I mentioned earlier that something like this leak and something so alpha that it precedes "alpha", future builds are often buggier than their predecessors. Please every one new to this proceed with caution. Also know that some of us have not had ANY issues at all, but that won't mean it will be the same for you.
I'm in the same boat, spent the last 3 hours trying to get it to work. No luck. Trying Vicious at the moment now. I've found that wiping and then flashing a different rom will work. Only problem is I can't even boot into recovery right now...guess the phone's just dead. What a PITA...

Looks like I spoke too soon. My only option is now to go back to a stock 4.0.2 and work from there.
I think the phone was just dead because I let it charge from my laptop for about half an hour and I could boot into recovery just fine.

I'll flash the 1st custom source dropped rom when its available. I favor aokp so hopefully it will be by them.
As for setting the phone back up with VZ I'm not clear on what your asking. When you install a new rom your phone will be in a factory like state with the additional customizations added by the rom developer. You'll just readd your accounts and redownload your apps and set your phone up like you did when you first bought it.
