What the heck is the deal with iphone users Vs Android users

Some people just don't want or need that piece of software in the middle, whether it be iTunes or a replacement. Do things the way you want to... what a concept.

Some do not, it is true. I simply drag my music files to the music folder on the sd card and that's that.

Problem is this. Apple is constantly trying to thwart the attempts at Jailbreaks. There isn't anything easy about it. Took months before I had a decent jailbreak for the 4.2.1 firmware and the new baseband 05.15.04 . Its a much simpler process to root and flash a custom ROM on an Android device and honestly its an awesome phone without it.

Fortunately, Rootmepls, Greenpois0n RC5 makes this a fall off the log easy thing to do.

But lets be honest, the real reason most people here don't like apple products is because the communist trim behind it dictates what you can and can't do with your product. (this includes even holding it.) And the most jokes thing of it all? The media perception. While most phones would be marked down severely for NOT BEING ABLE TO MAKE A CALL! Most sites side stepped such a fundamental flaw when apple gave their latest phone out for review.

Now, I'm not sold on all this fight for your freedom crap but when big neutral sites start sub consiously favouring apple products, tossing good, valuable and essentially decent products out the window with the old slogan ' this is no iphone beater' then I take a stand. We take a stand, we here are people not fooled by gimmicks pulled by apple.

Just remember one thing, open platforms inspire innovation, closed ones do not. I guarantee you we well see more innovate ideas on or side if the fence in the next few years now that android is finally taking a bite into the smart phone market share.

Long live android

However . . . Kyocera/Cricket dictates that I must never remove UNO or Midnight Bowling or any of the stock apps that can be replaced with what I consider to be better applications. I hate the stock SMS app and I love Handcent, for example. I replaced most of the stock apps but the factory provided apps are still taking up space on my phone.

To remove these hated apps requires that I "violate" my warranty with a root.

Using Android also requires that I use Google. Can't use a new phone unless you get a Google email account. I understand why and I do not see this as a big issue. But still, we go Android and we are closely tied to Google. Just like I can't use my iPod unless I go through iTunes.

Google does this for one very simple reasoon: they want as many users tied to Google as is possible, just like Apple.

I think the argument against Apple is a good one. I discovered this when I started using my iPad and I was not the least bit pleased at what I took for granted was impossible without jailbreaking the bloody device. I dislike the attitude expressed by battling Fanboys on both sides.

I remember when that picture was taken. Mr Jobs had just learned that Al Gore was running Froyo on a jailbroken iPhone and he went nuts.

You do know that there are more than a dozen replacements for iTunes, right?

I wasn't aware that there were iTunes alternatives that work with the iPhone, no. I know there are lots of different media players available, yes, but can you sync stuff back and forth with an iPhone using them? Anyways, the important thing is that now, with Android, I don't need any of them. That's all I care about.

If you're running Windows, use MediaMonkey. It can really help with astronomical music collections and get your tags and other metadata back that iTunes screws up. There is a free version which only has the basic features, but all the essentials and the Gold version which has everything else. I have the Gold version and love it.

however much they innovate/don't we'd all like Steve Jobs to have a speedy recovery right?
I would.
anyway in that video, "I'll buy almost anything if it's shiny and made by Apple"
brings me back to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyDFzTOvfTk they're like sheep

Or this perhaps?

I think we all want Steve to recover. But suppose he either becomes unable to run the show or retires due to poor health?

Care to speculate what will happen to Apple? I am sure it will continue, but with different management, who knows what changes will occur. Perhaps a wider range of iPhones?

To be clear, the alternatives I am referring to run on your PC, not the phone. And because I do not use an iPhone, I can't advise you as to what works best or blows. I use Winamp to transfer music to my iPod. There are many different music players on the Android Market, as you well know and I am really not all too particular about which one I use.

As for me, I simply copy my music to the music folder on the Zio's SD card and run. I look for what works for me and when I find it, that is where I stay.

Just curious, I guess it happened when I was a blackberry user but damn, I was at a party last night and a few of my friends were loving all over my inspire and asking questions and just admiring it all together, two of them are up for an upgrade and were considering the iphone (also coming from a blackberry) One of the guys there are like "oh the hell with that you don't want a droid go with the iphone it's the best device out right now" He never looked at my phone, never touched it, so how in the hell do you know your phone is better than mine? I kinda wanted to punch him in his eye lol I could careless what anyone thinks but it was like he thought his phone was the best thing since wonder bread, and he isn't the first iphone user I have seen get like that. I loved my blackberry, moved on to my inspire, think its amazing, but 2 years from now, i may go back, may want an iphone, but knowing me i will just want the newest phone at that time, I am a woman, we are nuts, but who knows..........I am not tied to a phone, I go with what I like at the moment. Just my lil insight for the day

The majority of iphone users tend to be music loving snobbish people who know so little about technology that they can't even cut on their own computer. I had an iphone because it was the ' nicest' att phone out at the time, but I got sick of it fast when a lot of folks around me got them and started asking me how do you download an app how do you put music on it. Folks want an iphone like kids wanted to smoke to be cool back in the day. The iphone is the most generic and locked down phone I ever used worse than my black berry. I regret ever having one. in your situation just sit back and smile knowing your are smarter and have a smart persons phone.

You have met a fanboy I am sad to say. Both devices has their strengths and weaknesses. I had an ipod touch and basically its an iphone that cant make calls. It was fun to play with and battery life was great but I tired of it quickly as its so locked down. Once I got my droid I gave my touch to my 7 year old son as he likes to play angry birds. It was either that or he runs my droid battery dead everyday.

I wouldnt worry about the fanboy. Just pity him for being as closed minded as apple is with its locked down devices.

Fortunately (and unfortunately) there are fan boys on each side. Some have done research. Some are trying to justify their purchase. Some are blind and ignorant to the facts and benefits of each device. Some are just clueless.

At the end of the day, I have the phone that I personally prefer. I'm glad that they have the choice and option to get the phone that they prefer.

I may be wrong, but I sort of feel like women are less subjected to 'fanboyism' (hence the 'boy' part of it). I think most women are more open minded and less aggressive about what they own, or switching brands.

It's not that men won't switch brands, but it seems like a lot of.... well, immature men anyways, feel the need to justify the brand they own by putting down all competing brands. It's the 'Alpha Male' syndrom. It's like saying, "check me out ladies, you want me because I'm the best. I make all the best decisions, I do everything better than these other losers, I'm the choice you want".

It's hard to watch sometimes. Because it makes us (males) seem so pathetic.

I can agree with that. After all my wife picked the devour out of all the more powerful androids oout at the time of its release. She wishes she could get 2.2 but shes happy with what she has.

Me on the other hand I have a droid and I want the incredible and also the thunderbolt but its all just basically the same phone. just a faster and more bells and whistles. When newer phones comes out I will want them.

Maybe one day we can evolve from our cavemen tendencies.

This happens on both sides. Android fanboys are as guilty as Apple fanboys. I know from owning both Android and iOS devices. It just tends to happen more from the Apple side because of the loyal following that Jobs has created.

So you feel Android users are less loyal? I think we've established around here that people (males in particular) have a displaced sense of loyalty to the brands they choose. We have many ex-Apple owners running around here. They have many ex:Android owners running around over there..

A lot of folks who stand up for Android say, "well they started it". Well duh, they had a 3 year head start! If Android had preceeded Apple, then we would have started it. So we can't hold that against them. Plus they have a very good product, so we can't hold that against them either. Actually, I can't think of much of anything to hold against them?

Except that.... well they're the enemy. Which naturally means God is on our side so we shall slaughter them and be victorious! Muhu hahahahahaha hahahaha!!!

I never said that Android users were less loyal. Apple, though, has developed an incredibly loyal user base that are the typical fanboys and would never use an Android device, which has resulted in a lot of backlash and loyal Android users. I believe that most people though are just looking for the phone that suits them best and aren't so "I'll die before I go to Apple" and vice-versa.

Timeout -

If you want to punch someone because they said the Iphone is the best - You might be a fanboi...

If you call the majority of iphone users snobbish - You might be a fanboi...

If you can compare apple to anything the nazis did - You might be a fanboi...

Telling someone your phone is the best doesn't make you a fanboi... Psychotic rants on the internet do.
