What the heck is the deal with iphone users Vs Android users

But if my wife ever brings home a 12 pack of Pepsi! I SWEAR ILL... kidding. :P

Oh, I'm not a Coke fanboy, I just can't stand Pepsi! Wild Cherry Pepsi is ok, I prefer Cherry Coke. But if I'm in an establishment that only serves Pepsi, and they don't have Dr. Pepper, then Wild Cherry Pepsi it is for me.

I like Coke and 7-Up (owned by Pepsi). I hate the fact that most restaurants have either Coke and Sprite (owned by Coke) or Pepsi and 7-Up.

When it comes down to it I'll just use whichever is best for me. Being tied down to one product is just stupid when you think about it. I like Pepsi, but if I go somewhere and all they have is Coke I won't complain about it...it's just there.

Just curious, I guess it happened when I was a blackberry user but damn, I was at a party last night and a few of my friends were loving all over my inspire and asking questions and just admiring it all together, two of them are up for an upgrade and were considering the iphone (also coming from a blackberry) One of the guys there are like "oh the hell with that you don't want a droid go with the iphone it's the best device out right now" He never looked at my phone, never touched it, so how in the hell do you know your phone is better than mine? I kinda wanted to punch him in his eye lol I could careless what anyone thinks but it was like he thought his phone was the best thing since wonder bread, and he isn't the first iphone user I have seen get like that. I loved my blackberry, moved on to my inspire, think its amazing, but 2 years from now, i may go back, may want an iphone, but knowing me i will just want the newest phone at that time, I am a woman, we are nuts, but who knows..........I am not tied to a phone, I go with what I like at the moment. Just my lil insight for the day

i've always found an iphone to be an awesome thing to play with (whether it would games, listen to music, browse the internet), but not that great at being a phone. i find the latter ironic considering that was the reason why the iphone is an iphone, but that's just my opinion.

I had an iPhone before moving to Android. While I will admit, the simplicity of it is great and all, even if you jail break the thing it looks the exact same. I love the openess and customization of Android.

I can dislike Apple without being a fanboi. I simply don't like the mess it makes of graphic and sound extensions on a PC. If you have an Iphone and like it, then I'm happy for you. Same goes for Android. I don't care for some MS practices, either.
Both sides are PITAs about how to use the phone. If I want to use the phone more as a tool than a social instrument, that's my business. I paid for the phone, I'll use it my way. "A smartphone is no good unless it connects to the internet" is crap. I do connect, a good smartphone lets me use wifi which I don't have to pay for, I can use Skype. The phone will have a decent display and speed so I can read my ebooks and nature guides. I can keep track of expenses w/o having to bank online. I can write shopping lists and memos. If I see an idea of something I might want to make, I can take a picture. If you want to watch movies or do Facebook, go ahead. Or do other socializing type stuff like movies, restaurants, do that, too. Just let me use the phone MY WAY!

however much they innovate/don't we'd all like Steve Jobs to have a speedy recovery right?

I don't like Steve Jobs at all, but I do wish him as speedy a recovery as money can buy.

Care to speculate what will happen to Apple? I am sure it will continue, but with different management, who knows what changes will occur. Perhaps a wider range of iPhones?

Bob Maxey

I think Apple is in for a complete retooling.

Steve Jobs is a very interesting manager. He micromanages EVERYTHING. It's going to be hard to change the culture, or to find anyone that so many intelligence respectable people will allow to have that much control over their work.

I expect them to micromanage less, and they will go through some hard times as the employees get used to that... during the "hard times", I expect the guy in charge to attempt to micromanage to get back to what Steve Jobs had... that will be catastrophic, and they will do away with micromanaging period.

That's what I Expect to happen.

I don't understand how many seem to think android phones are less easy to use than an iphone. Every phone has it's pros and cons but I have found android easy to used from day one. Lets be real, how hard is it to read that you have a home, menu, back and search button? The phone button as well is right there on your home screen to make a call, the most important of them all.

I just bought an iphone for my second line, and theres so many things that I find im missing from my droid. (back key is huge) and since this is my first time using an iDevice, I actually find it kinda difficult to use. reguardless had it jailbroken within 3 hours of purchase :) seems my droid is getting more use now though lol.

oh and when it comes to fanpeople (can be dude or chick) nothing is more satisfying then then watching an argument in person between two of them.

Hmm... I'm not sure, I think Apple does well because of it's limited selection of choice, they sell, for want of a better word 'premium' products, exclusive if you may. that's how they get their business, that and Jobs' PHENOMENAL presentation skills and their marketing

Not if you listen to Jobs and apple :D

But, Jobs must be a fanboy and he must say his product rules above all others . . . Kinda goes with Job's job.

And remember, Apple is insanely great and you simply can't argue with any company that offers insanely great greatness.

I've never been a "brand-loyal" type of person.

Cars I've had: Opel, Mazda, Toyota, BMW, Honda, Chevy, Ford, VW(VW, VW, VW :) )

Motorcycles I've had: Suzuki(4), Kawasaki(2), Honda(4), KTM(1....the best one). Never had a Yamaha.

Phones: Motorola, BB, Nokia, some others I don't even know what they were.

Service providers: All of the major USA providers at one time or another.

I see that other Android users are also having a little difficulty with the iPhone as well. The iPhone tries to use context sensitive soft buttons on the screen a lot, but I find that they do not stand out very well sometimes. A back button would be really handy as sometime you just want to go back to the last screen and it isn't always obvious what it is called. I would like a back button instead of a button named after the previous screen.

I remember when that picture was taken. Mr Jobs had just learned that Al Gore was running Froyo on a jailbroken iPhone and he went nuts.

Bob

oh wow, seriously?

the phone part in the iphone seem to elude people. i've known people who have regular phone to calls from and only have the an iphone for everything else. of course, it's not everyone who do this, but i wonder if the main goal was achieved.

i myself don't hate iphones, but i do question the durability and longevity of the product when new models come out so fast.

No water, however. AND no Ice!

Ice kills the subtle sidenotes in a complex malt, as well as diluting increasingly as it melts. A dash of natural spring water, imho, enhances. YMMV, of course.

I don't understand how many seem to think android phones are less easy to use than an iphone.

From my experience they're not. I gave my Android to four iPhone-owning young friends, all in their early to mid-twenties, at a family gathering recently and all had no difficulty finding their way around and using it.

@Frisco: thanks for reminding me what I'm (currently) missing! :(

@lunatic59: I'll pass on the MacAllan as I'm not a huge fan of Speysiders, but the Dalmore is right up my street (and down my throat)! :D

I felt the same way when I first got my iPod touch. I would go into the setting menus and for the life of me couldn't figure out the back tracking system. For a week there I would just press that humongous home button to get out of every app. And they say the iphone is intuitive LOL.

I'm partial to Glenlivet & Glenfiddich, myself :).

The other day, a friend of mine posted on her facebook status asking her friends if it would be worth getting an iPhone and selling her N97, & gave a bunch of things she needs a phone to do. A friend of hers said "Yes, but Android is much better." I posted that I agreed with her friend, & listed some examples of what Android could do & how it fit in w/ her requirements. Then her brother, whom I've never met, jumps in & talked about how childish Android devices were & how "elegant" iPhones were, how easy iPhones are to use vs Android's complexity, etc etc etc. It was kinda nuts! Rather than get into it w/ him via my friend's fb page, I just sent her an email backing my statements up & giving her more examples. I also said that the iPhone is a decent device, but the iPhone religious could get a bit fanatical.

You're jesting right?

There is only one iPhone released a year. Construction quality is OK, certainly good enough IMO to last the length of a two year contract.

New Android phones are coming out every few days. Many of them very cheaply made, many of them with old versions of Android, with NO upgrades available. The exceptions been the expensive premium ones from well known manufacturers, e.g. HTC, Motorola, LG and Samsung.

I kind of expect this to happen as well.

Of course last time Steve Jobs wasn't at the helm of Apple. They almost went bust, and was bailed out by Microsoft.

Things may get even worse for Apple however...

I think iPhone build quality (except signal problems (haha...)) is exceptional except for the fact that I don't know an iPhone 4 user who hasn't broken their screen within half a year (maybe it's just the people who buy them?)

Oh stop with the scotch already, you people are making me sick!!!

No really. The first time I ever got piss drunk it was off of whiskey. I got soooo sick the next day that 23 years later I still can't stand the sight, smell or sound of whiskey (which for me anyways also includes scotch and bourbon). I'm not a huge drinker (well, not since my military days anyways), but if I'm drinking it'll usually be one of two things for me. If it's simply for taste I like a glass 2/3rds full of Bailey's Irish Cream and the other 3rd with Romano Black Sambuca, over ice. If I'm trying to go a little further then Vodka will do. Grey Goose or Ciroc preferably.

And Slug, shame on you for not listing which motorcycle you prefer!!!

My my, impressive list of bikes you've had there! I've only owned 5 bikes all to myself. First of all it all started when two buddies and I found a 1977 Honda CMT 440 (or something like that) in the classifieds for $350 bucks. We all pitched in our $117, and ran off to pick the ol bugger up.

We each practiced on it for a few weeks, and then I found a 1988 Kawasaki 250 for $800 bucks. It was that Kawasaki, combined with the excitement of watching Scott Russell kicking ass on that lime green and purple machine around Daytona (and every other race along the way on his way to winning the WSBK championship) that cemented my adoration for the brand.

After I outgrew the 250 I moved onto a 1991 green/white & blue ZX-7. Rode it for 6 years and crashed it taking a turn too fast (only motorcycle crash I've ever been involved in). Then I moved up to a 1996 Black Mica (official name of the color, it was a magnificent deep, deeeep purple that looked pretty much black until the sun hit it from certain angles) ZX-9R.

That bike got stolen 5 years later so I went back down to a 1996 Maroon ZX-7R. I got it because I simply loved the body style. I had originally been planning on getting it when I changed my mind at the last minute and bought the 9. So I finally gave into my temptations and got it. It was naturally much slower with a lot less torque than the 9, but oh my goodness what a front end... never been on a bike that planted through a turn.

But I only had it for 2 years as I found a left-over 2004 ZX-10R in the spring of 05 for only $9000 dollars. I jumped on it, and haven't came off of it yet. Love this bike. But the 2011 bike is REALLY calling my name. I may have to finally abondon ship and start anew. It's a hard decision though because I have about $9000 total invested (on top of the $9000 I paid for it of course) in my bike and she's right where I want her. But, I've always enjoyed the journey more than the destination. So starting a new project will be fun.

Anywho, put some faces to the names... which bikes are the one's you've owned? I'm expecially curious to know which KTM you have there? If you dare say the RC8 I'll eat my hat with envy!!!
