Root CM4DX - Cyanogenmod

as excited as i am about CM7 on the dx, the thing that has me more excited is the idea of CM8 +. the longer my x is receiving updates and new software, the longer i can put off upgrading and being content longer while i wait for a phone i really want to come out.

i bet a "CyanBlur" theme would get just about everyone that likes the new Gingerbread to jump ship...its not the actual "Blur" that keeps me on .596, i don't use ANY of the Blur widgets(except the toggle widgets)...its just the look that i like...i really really like notification bar, and all its icons, i like the blue highlights...i like the dock background...

and i hate to say this, but i like the white menus as well...though this is not a big deal...i wouldn't mind the black menus with the blue highlights...but i feel the white kinda sets us apart...

Honestly, I think a lot of people like the new GB and Blur. If I had to leave my phone as it is (.596 rooted stock), I could live with it until my next upgrade. I am using the all of the Blur widgets now. I never even touched them on FroYo. They aren't perfect, but they are good enough.

I hate the new gingerblur - i am eagerly waiting for this.

but for now, I am running Apex RC2 which is awesome.

I see a couple of reasons for this...

1) The DX community has been burned by other DX "breakthrough" announcements. While I totally put my faith in CM (and he has video to back it up), I think most people are in a wait and see mode.

2) There is nothing we can do but wait and see. Coming to the forums and posting "When it is going to be released. I cannot wait" isn't going to help get it here any quicker.

3) Until the specifics are released, it isn't helping other developers. Even when the specifics are released, it will be a little while before we see other people being able to take advantage of it and get their own ROMs out there.

I totally agree that this is a major breakthrough, but we are currently at the mercy of CM. I'm excited, but waiting patiently.......

it IS happening. cvpcs has said that all CM7 features are available and that this is the full CM7 rom. someone asked specifically about the notification toggles.

this is one of the things that he was trying to stress. for all effects and purposes, he has the same ability as if it were a custom kernel.

well, im on the edge of my seat and excited as can be. If it comes to us this week ill be just as happy as it coming today. If they dont hurry up and release it, Ill have to wait some more. Good news is worth a wait.

A Blur fan and a Yankee fan.

I don't think I can talk to you anymore.

Though the Sox won the last 3 series and swept the last 2, so maybe I can find it in my heart to feel pity ;)
 
CM roms have always been top notch. I ran them on the original D1 back in the day. If Motorola had developers like Steve Kondik they would be THE leaders in the market for sure.
If CM comes to the DX fully functional it will be like having a new device.

well thats what we're hoping for. he has it booted and fully functional. just ironing out the bugs and kinks. i'm sure his alpha testers found a lot and i bet there will be a lot of people in on the beta. it should be pretty stable by the time its released. its also noteworthy that apparently P3Droid is putting something together to sbf and flash CM7 in one simple process. perhaps thats one of the things they are waiting on for the release. they also said that once you have CM7 on your device, that you can go back and forth between it and GB without having to SBF.

Yeah I read this too.. P3 stated it would not be one click though, which is ok.. I'll take as many steps needed to get this on my phone! :D

well my battery life has taken a hit ever since I got gingerbread - also, i dislike the color scheme.
