I got a replacement phone a couple of weeks ago and have not been able to root it, so I am taking it that my unrevoked is too out of date, but I downloaded one when I got the phone. Thanks in advance guys. Oh yeah the message that I am getting is "is your device too new" or something like that.

any update as to if unrevook supports sprints stock upgrade to 2.3?
Ok I am new to the idea of rooting, and I read the Rooting for Dummies (and I think I understand it) I have a couple of questions. I am sure they will make you roll your eyes but know I appreciate this greatly.
So I have been doing some reading the last few days and I am intrigued by the new mik ROM that includes the new Sense. Now I plan to root on Thursday, after I have done all of the steps and have rooted can I then flash the new mik ROM (after of course doing a Nandroid) straight away or do I have to flash an older ROM first. I guess what I am asking is it:
Step 1) root phone
Step 2) flash mik
Step 3) ???
Step 4) profit/bacon
Do these ROMs have any effect on the signal strength of the phone? To put it lightly the last few months my cell service has been spotty in some areas and I don't want to do anything that will make it worse.
I see a lot of talk about flashing radios...some say it is super important to flash new radios, some say it is dangerous and some say it is unnecessary. Well I will be coming from stock 2.2 when I root will it be needed? And what exactly is the PRI? (it seems with the new mik ROM you need to flash to 1.77 which makes zero sense to me since I have no idea what it means )
Like I said, I am a rooting noob to the Nth degree. I know one person who is rooted and he paid someone to do it but me I trust no one with my phone but me. I plan to read the guide again before I root and will obviously read as I root so hopefully even I can't screw it up
Thanks!
I have not upgraded to GB. I am running Froyo 2.2.
Ok, I will do all that (including Amon Ra since that seems to be the one everyone likes best) and will report back. Will either be tonight or tomorrow.
Thanks!
yeah i agree. i use vr superwipe in addition to manually wiping. some people even wipe manually three times and use either vr superwipe or calkulin's format all three times as well before they flash. main thing is you can never be to clean.
Yeah..Some people are wipaholics and flashaholics Me I'm just a flashaholic.
EDIT:As they say, to each there own and do whatever works for you!
i tried rooting my phone last night, it did not work. i did not read through the end of the forum, but what i am getting is that if you did the software update to android 2.3.3 you have to wait for a new version of unrevoked?
Here's how it'll happen...
I get my Evo Friday, making sure to tell the person helping me doesn't update to the 2.3.3.. I get home, root my phone and install the rooted 2.3.3....
After firing it up, get the Titanium Back Up and other apps I need including the tether app... Tether using my kick ass 4G which I live in the center of a 4G area. I'll check my posts and find that they got the new root figured out for the stock 2.3.3.....
I'll be a little sad, BUT I'LL STILL HAVE A KICK ASS EVO!!!!! lol
So I rooted with unrevoked and seems to be working well but I have a question...I can't seem to get Amon Ra to work. Can anyone give me a ridiculously dumbed down set of instructions on how to get it and use it. I don't want to flash a rom until I nandroid correctly and I have been reading enough to be biased against clockwork
Not trying to burst your bubble but alot of the Evos coming out right now have 2.3 already installed with the new hboot so you may be stuck with it for a bit longer. You might get lucky but all I have heard about are coming with the latest OTA already.
